  1. My friend who also got into the program with us has a friend there in her 3rd semester. She told me that before cliniclas started she drove to galveston 3-4 times a week and then once clinicals started she was primarily in the med center. You have to remember that after Ike the facilities arent just there to accomodate all of us. The laday that interviewed me said "now you better be comfortable driving to Houston for most of your clinicals because for instance we dont even have but 8 PEDS neds that are up and running right now from Ike" So.....i am happy I live in the med center because I hope this is where I spend the most time but i guess we wont know till we start. KatieLou-can you please send me a message on FB with the your cpr persons name and #
  2. also some of you were wondering about shoes....these are what i wore in the OR after trying tennies and they killed my feet after a few months of standing all day and they were like the miracle shoes. I copied all the surgeons i worked with and bought them http://www.thewalkingcompany.com/brands/product.aspx?ProductID=5892&pagetag=women_dansko&source=Brand&gclid=CKqRhYLbtp4CFRLyDAodLVDDeg
  3. hey guys!!!!!!! Hope everyone had an awesome holiday!!! I went yesterday to get my Tetorifice shot which has left me in serious pain and i normally dont whine about shots or blood AT ALL. The nurse said this is going to leave your arm sore for a fews days I said "yeah yeah" boy she was right. Its all knotted underneath the skin like someone slugged me. OK I had the TB done and my first Hep B done again since I did my first shot 10 yrs ago and couldnt tell you who gave it to me so my Dr. said lets just start over. I also had all my titers done too. What a relief to have it all done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to see my bill :) Anyway...did anyone ever find out how much tuition will be for our first semester? I am curious so I can start getting my money in order. i am really excited to meet all of you
  4. Yaayyyyyyyyyy KatieLou
  5. Ouch......talk about raining on your parade huh? Well you are soooo close so stay positive.....as Dec 7th approaches you will get a call
  6. Well on some previous posts I read that the Bacc2 admits were given a 5K grant for their first sememster. I think grants and scholarships are different from reg financial aide that you have to pay pack. This was free money they got. I wondered if we were going to get free money too and it looks like free money is available after the first sememster according to what she said. I dont think this has anything to do with you getting loans so I wouldnt worry about it at all.
  7. katie- i wonder why you were asked for a second interview if they didnt address any of that? strange...but hey you got a second interview and thats awesome. good luck...did they say when you would know anything? also i got a response to my question email and here it goes: i was accepted into your generic bsn and have a few questions that weren't clarified in the admissions packet i received. i am not sure if you are the one to answer these questions so if not please advise who i should email. 1. what time is orientation on jan 5th and 6th? complete information will be sent to all new students in early december. both dates will start at 7:00 am. 2. when is the first day of class? your first day will be january 7, 2010. 3. when and how do we register for class? all new students will be batch registered by the admissions office. 4. where do you advise we buy our books? you may purchase your textbooks at the utmb bookstore or any store you chose. the books for the courses you will taking are listed as bsn jr 3390, 3410, 3340, and 3631 at this site: (pm me for details) 5. i see in the packet that certain form are asked to be returned to different parts if the school (admissions, registrar, ministry, etc.) so does that mean i need to mail out these forms to 4 or 5 different places or do i mail everything back to admissions and they see that it gets to the right place? return all forms to our admissions office. 6. when is tuition due so i can make sure my finances are in order? please call ********* or enrollment services. 7. how much will tuition and books be approximately? ****** or enrollment services can answer the tuition question. books are approximately $500/semester. 8. i see the bacc2 admits received a 5k dollar grant to help with school....is this available to generic student unfortunately it is not. the son will offer scholarships next semester which you can apply for online. 9. what shoes are we required to wear for clinicals? any all white shoe with a closed toe and heel. for recommendations, you can contact ********* 10. what is the parking situation for students? you can purchase a parking permit after you receive your id badge. for orientation, you will park at the utmb shuttle lot-instructions will be provided. thanks for your help you can pm me if you want more details.
  8. this is getting really exciting...all this phone talk :) Its becoming very real....anyone remember where that good CPR post was?
  9. I heard renting is waaayyyyy cheaper but I would have to look into it once we knew what books we actually need. I just got off the phone with a girl I met at the interview who has a high GPA and a degree from A&M....she hasnt heard anything....hopefully she just got lost in the shuffle cuz she was really cool. Ms. Sealy- I dont have AT&T so I am scared to the get an iPhone since I would prob have to buy one on eBay or something. I have a Palm Centro right now but its a piece of you know what. My hubby is buying me a new phone for x-mas so I may look into the Palm Pre or Palm Pixi. Or heck maybe I will get a blackberry. How do you know if the phone is compatable? I REALLY hope they arent going to make us wear white shoes...they get all scuffed and bloody and goopy and gross....LOL....
  10. I sent an email with 10 questions so hopefully she responds tomorrow and I will let you guys know what she says
  11. RedOne-My eConnect still says pending yet I got my packet last week. In the packet its just forms to fill out, shot record stuff, etc. Should I send "D" an email maybe? I am just curious as to when school starts, what the hours of orienation are since it only gave dates, what we should buy before school starts if anything, when and how do we register, where do we get our books, all that jazz because if orientation is 5th and 6th and school starts on the 8th thats not even two days to take care of all that you know?
  12. Also I have NO CLUE what classes to register for or books to buy....do we do this after Orientation? I am so confused please help....also do we have to wear a certain colored shoe for clinicals?
  13. Katie- the advice u got is spot on. You are meeting with the head honcho so look at that as a positive not a negative. You get to shine for the chief as I see it. Practice practice practice...get there early it will help you simmer down before you go in. Also STAY AWAY from too much coffee or any other stimulant for that matter....your heart will be racing as it is. maybe go have a serious workout the morning of to get some of that energy out! Most of all BE YOURSELF. Everyone else- Can anyone repost that good CPR info someone posted? I need to get on it! Also can someone explain to me what all this PDA talk is about? I want to be sure before I go buy anything. Also....I saw online class starts January 8th but thats a Friday which is weird so does anyone know? Also do we have to have ANOTHER security screening even though I did one when I applied? Lastly, I live in the med center anyone else close to me who is interested in carpooling?
  14. Katie-You cant think like that!!!! Get off this chat room...go work out or shop and try to not even go there. They have your # and your email so you WILL hear something from them regardless...you staring at the screen is only going to make it worse...trust me....step away from the computer
  15. Katie- you are on my mind girl......I know the feeling. You have good grades and your mom went there I am sure you will be fine....heck i would call up there if i were you to ease your mind...or send "A" an email...let us know as soon as you hear something girl.....i am rooting for you
