UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

Published

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

well no wonder I couldnt find anything....LOL so would the one before Fall 09 be Fall 08?

i think so!

emag, yeah you're right...I don't want to get my hopes up and not have a response at all next week.

i've resisted checking my utlink since my september interview, so i'm just excited to check it starting sometime this week/early next week! however, the excitment will probably turn in to annoyance when nothing changes for days :p

yeah i think there was a fall 2008 thread somewhere

I found the Fall 2008 thread and it was 2 pages...no good info really. Maybe theres another one but I didnt see it. I will start checking the first week of Novemeber...if someone gets a hit before that PLEASE POST it on here

do you think they're starting from the beginning and accepting people by interview date? i think it's a safe bet that they MIGHT start changing some UTlink statuses late this week/early next week (i say that with hesitation of course!)

The way my lady made it out be at my interview was that they give us an interview score...the interview, NET, and GPA carry equal weight. They then take the top 80 based on a point system type thing. They wouldnt be able to start that process until all interviews are complete in my opinion. I am sure the people that sucked at their interview and barely had the grades and barely had passing NET scores were weeded out fast....but as far as people like us with super high GPA's and good NEt scores and good interview skills...its neck in neck..

I have been watching this forum since before we did interviews, and haven't posted anything yet. I'm SO anxious to see my status change!

Assuming you get in, where is everyone planning on living in Houston??

i think i would choose the university owned apartments...you can find them on their website. i'm currently a student at A&M in College Station so i don't really know anyone in the Houston area and i think this would be a good way for me to meet people and be with people i go to school with

I have lived on the West Side of Houston all my life but I am thinking of moving near the school if I get in. The drive would just take away from my study time. I have looked into a few apartments in the area...unless you are looking for something built in the 70s or 80s you might need a roommate. The apartments are SKY HIGH!

Hi fudgebrownie (mmm!!) I live in the medical center already luckily, but the nearby areas are for the most part pretty pricey (I have the luck of having a radiologist cousin that has an extra house that I'm staying in while in school).

I would check out the Rice Village area for an apartment because it is very close, and is in a cute area! If I didn't already live nearby I would probably find another student to room with.

And best of luck! I know, waiting is driving me crazy too! Each day that goes by I keep feeling more and more confident that utlink will have updated, but always see "pending"

okay so i went back to the fall 2009 thread and did some research... the letters were supposed to be sent out on April 1st for them, but their UT link started to change on March 19th-ish to March 22nd-ish. That's about 12 days before the 1st....

For us...if they're supposed to send out letters by november 15th, then we should start checking like crazy on november 2nd-ish! Next monday!! :)

I hope you're right! The only thing is that they did have more time before the fall semester started, and because this is their first time taking a spring class, they need a little more time! I sure hope not, though, because I want to know!!! :)

Has anyone looked at Sawyer Heights Lofts off of I-10?..That's where I'm planning on living come December-January.

When I went to my interview the last question the lady asked me was whether or not I was planning on living on campus, I told her no, and she said "well good because it's practically impossible to get housing."

Did anybody else get a question like that from the interviewer?
