UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

Published

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

fudgebrownie, I wasn't asked any questions about housing, but from what I understand, everyone was asked different questions.

Fudgebrownie I was not asked anything about housing...Actually I was told that everyone was asked the same questions and my lady had a sheet she read them off of and took notes on.

that question might've just been a 'just wondering' question and nothing of real importance to the interview :)

i didn't get asked that question i don't think

The question was not on the sheet of questions...it was just a quick question she shot me as I was literally walking out of the door...I was hoping it was a good sign. She asked me a few other questions which I cannot remember at the moment. One of the questions she asked me in the actual interview was why I felt that I should be admitted into UTHSC SON, what specifically makes me stand out. I then preceded to tel her about my experience at the hospitals and growing up at my dad's and mom's office (dad is a doctor and mom is his nurse) and she told me her husband had the same kind of experience growing up and it's neat to hear all of his stories.

She also asked me why Houston, why UTHSC, and of course the question about the first 8 weeks we were given and how I thought I could handle it.

lcap, my interviewer lady did the same thing. I so wish I could have remembered her name but I was so nervous during my interview that it slipped my mind when she introduced herself! :|

I have a house in The Med Center off of Buffalo Speedway. Before I bought my house I rented a house in West University and it was great. It was a 2 bed bungalow witha pool and we paid $1600 a month.....cheaper than any apartment we liked per person. There are also great houses in my neighbor hood which run anywhere from $1200 and up. Its very safe and quiet. My neighborhood is called Knollwood/Braeswood Place. I have lived in this area for 10 years...since I graduated HS and I know it like the back of my hand so if you need any advice just ask. Also....Rice is cute but SUPER pricey. I would NOT rent off Old Spanish Trail or Almeda.....it gets seedy there at night dont let the pretty apartments fool you. Main St. is getting better but still not where I would want to live alone. Basically the closer you get to 288 and the Astrodome the seddier it gets. Be prepared to have a dated apt complex for around $800 month. If you want something new you are looking at $1000....thats for a one ned one bath. Anybody's UT Link change?

i'm thinking i'll just have to commute for at least the first semester. maybe for fall 2010/spring 2011 i'll live in the med center area. yeah, i have some friends that like at almeda and they're really expensive but nice. nope :( i checked it just now and no changes... *sigh* just a little longer!

didn't they say that everyone would know if they were accepted/denied by november 15th at the latest?

Thats what they said but I will believe it when I see it.

i know, for real! whenever i see that a new post was added to this thread, I always think "maybe someone's utlink status changed!!" haha....argh... okay maybe next week :)

does anyone know if they would let us know before the 15th?

good luck with anyone over the phone telling you squat....thats when they become extra rude...trust me. There is a good chance that our UT Link will change before that date but I seriously doubt anyone there will tell you but by all means go for it ;) I am freaking out....I just hope I am what they want!!! Its out of our hands at this point.

I don't really mind the waiting...its the thinking of plans for the next few months but not being able to finalize anything that is driving me batty. For some, getting into this program will be a life changing experience. I know for me it will be the start of a real career that I have been planning for years. The transition from getting an acceptance letter to the first day of classes will be a fast one. I guess I should appreciate the slow pace of these next few days.

that is very true missmoe! I will try to appreciate these relaxing days because we will have very few of them when nursing school hits next semester :)
