UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

Published

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

UT doesnt care how many times....they take your most recent. It is a TOTAL glich on their end. I am still waiting for the lady to call me back...she admitted that it was their fault...now I want to know what their resolution will be because I will pitch a fit if they dont.

Maybe they can give you my slot. I'm confident that I will get into my first choice school and don't want to spend the money/miss class to go to ut houston for an interview if I won't end up going there anyway.

that's great! what is your first choice?

Well after a day from hell....I finally called the admissions coordinator . And she admitted that they made a mistake and pulled my NET from Sep 1st NOT Sep 11th and that she would be calling me later today or tomorrow to set up my interview.....I will say that she isnt very nice or helpful. So....my friend who took the NET and did well Sep 11th is ALSO having the same problem with UT. IT seems like when they ran their final report this past week they didnt count ANYONE who took the NET after the Sep 1st test date...and YES THAT WAS THE FINAL REPORT...which means no more interview letters will be sent out after this last batch. So.....my advice to any of those who took their NET between Sep 1st and Sep 12 and didnt recieve a letter...call the Dean and I bet you a million bucks they didnt update your NET in the system. My friend has contacted the Dean because this happened to her as well and she is afraid to call (the one who reluctantly helped me).....I just want to help anyone who may be wondering why they havent gotten a letter....

gentle tos reminder:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

I have good grades too and I haven't received a letter for interview. They are doing interviews between end of September and beginning of October.

 I am very sad.

What were your NET scores for reading and math if you dont mind me asking? That could be why. Also what are your 3 GPA's?

The NET was 82 percentile: 64 reading and 98 math. My GPA is 3.67. I am also applying for ADN but I really want to do get a BSN. I will complete Associates this semester.

The reason you wont get an interview is because you have to have at least a 70 in both the reading and math on the NET. They wont interview anyone who didnt get that score :( Sorry to hear that

How do you know that? When I went to the orientation, they told us is based on the overall grade

I just got an e-mail from them and you are right. I have to have 70 or higher

Nope....I found that out by reading through Fall 2009 applicant thread here on allnurses. I had never heard of that either but after reading that I called and confirmed it with UT and they said that YES that is true. To be honest...this has happened to so many people because NOWHERE on UT's website does it say that. Thank God that I went and read through all those threads from 2009 or I wouldnt have know either. A BUNCH of people didnt get in last semester because of your same situation. Needless to say they were SO angry and upset. Everyone on this blog can confirm that this true about the 70's in both catagories. I am sorry to be the bearer or terrible news but thats why you didnt get one. One girl from Fall 09 applicant pool had a 4.0 and didnt get an interview because she had a 67 on the reading. I think UT should make that more clear for everyone.
