UT Houston (Fall 2014 applicants)

U.S.A. Texas

Hello Future Nurses,

Wanted to know if anyone was preparing to take the Hesi a2, and or applying to UT Houston before the Jan. 15, 2014 deadline for Fall 2014???? I would like to form a study forum!!

A classmate told me to do the very same. I appreciate it.

Did anyone else get waitlisted? I wonder how many of us there will be? I read from another post that summer applicants were offered the waitlist for fall.........so the waiting game continues

I received my rejection letter Tuesday, and what came in the mail today?? Another Trascript evaluation... Thank you UTHSC I know I have a 4.0 science GPA and a 3.81 prereq GPA.

What were your HESI scores?

Well, I received my denial letter today in the mail, but I will be attending UTMB this fall for their honors program.

Stats:

3.81 pre req

3.75 science

92 on HESI, 890 on Critical Thinking

I'll be honest, it felt a little weird for me getting the letter because I've always wanted to go to UTHealth, but it's good to know I already have somewhere else to go this fall. :)

Congratulations to everyone who's been accepted and best of luck this fall!! To anyone who got denied/waitlisted I also wish you the best of the luck and I hope you all keep your heads high! Before you know it, we'll all be working as nurses somehow. :)

Thanks for all the feedback and posts on this thread! It really helped me out through this entire process.

I'm thinking a big factor might be our learning styles and personality styles too, maybe? I forgot we did that. I've been reading up on what they mean!

I assume that they know what attributes would be better suited? I don't know. But I'm trying to understand how they do their admissions.

Girl, there must be something we are missing. I got wait listed at UTMB and got accepted to UTHealth... Soo odd. And your stats are a little high than mine. The only difference is I got a 950 on my CT on the HESI, but still...

My ct was a 790 and I got in, but my learning and personality profiles were kinesthetic/global and creative/leader in case that was a difference. I honestly don't know exactly what either school looks for because it makes no sense how people can get into one but not the other.

I'm kinesthetic/Global and Creative/People.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link, but this was very interesting: http://docs.hamptonu.edu/student/HESI_A2_Personality_Profiles_20140205141059.pdf

For those who have been accepted, when exactly are those requirements on the checklist due?

My learning/personality style was Kinesthetic/Global and Calm/Leader. Interesting...

Honestly, I don't think I will ever understand how UTHealth does their acceptances and what they factor in. I know from previous threads and other friends that it is like them to sometimes turn down people with really high stats. I'm just kinda glad that the wait/anxiety of getting in somewhere at all is all over with! Haha.

I don't want to be "that guy", but I just creeped on facebook and some of the UTHSC-Houston facebook groups have 200 plus people! Way more than I thought :)

People in one class will join the facebook groups for all the other classes as well. That way, they can receive guidance from the classes ahead of them, and give guidance to the classes after them. It's very cooperative and supportive. In our Summer class last year, we started with approx 130. We're down to about 110 now. Some students decided it wasn't for them, and a very few weren't able to make the grades to continue (but a VERY few are in that group).

Hope this helps!

Try to have them done by orientation.
