UT Houston (Fall 2014 applicants)
I just received my denial letter. It's strange since I thought I had a good chance with my stats. I wish they'd specify what they thought was lacking! I'll be applying for the next slot and to UTMB. I'll take a look at some other schools as well. I least I got some closure and I can't initiate my next battle plan! "Que sera, sera." I wish the best for all of you future nurses!

If I don't get in I'll probably reapply and apply to UTMB as well. I'd just like some closure since this uncertainty is difficult for long term planning!

I would keep checking on them to make sure they've received the transcript. I spoke with someone from Student Affairs to make sure the school received mine. I gave the person my name and she was able to look it up my sent transcript. From what I understand, if you followed the directions on the UT HSC website about signing up for the HESI, your scores will be automatically sent to them.

"Submit one official transcript of all course work from each college or university previously attended directly to the Registrar's Office. Electronic submission is preferred" Those instructions are from the admission directions. You send your college transcript to them electronically. Then they see which of your classes can qualify as your prerequisites.

Open Letter to Incoming Students
I'm just finishing my pre-reqs to get into a nursing school. But about textook-reading thing... My thoughts were to always read college textbooks since you invested money in them.

UT Houston (Fall 2014 applicants)
Heya folks! I've also applied for the UT-H Fall 2014 term. The lurking comment made me chuckle and prompted me to jump in. GPA: 3.78 Science GPA: 4.00 I took my HESI just two days ago. Here's how it went... Math: 94 Reading: 92 Vocabulary: 92 Grammar: 98 A&P: 84 Composite: 91 Critical thinking: 830 Learning style: Kinesthetic/Global Personality: Calm/People Overall, I'm content with the results. The critical thinking portion could be better. However, I'll take that with my zero nursing experience! I look forward to attending nursing school with you folks! Good luck to us all!

UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants
Hiya! I'm applying for the Fall 2014 cycle and attended the info session. These guys pretty much covered it in the last few posts. Thanks guys, it is nice to review the info. I asked the admissions lady after the session if they considered anything else other than Hesi scores and your GPA (For example, if you previously volunteered/worked in a clinical setting etc.) Her answer was a straight up no. Just a heads up. Volunteer in order to get yourself more familiar with the setting but don't count on them really considering it.
