University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program

Published

Hi All,

I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?

I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Another nursing school

Hi there, try National University. I believe it is 18-20 months, in Rancho Bernardo, and around 40,000 dollars, but it is accredited, and everyone there is sooooo nice, and helpful. :)

Specializes in NICU.

If waiting time isn't an issue I would recommend looking into Azusa Pacific's EENAP program. I met with the director and really liked their program but I wouldn't have been able to start until Spring 2011 I think. I ended up getting into OU so I didn't apply there but it seemed like a really good program, if you don't mind a Christian perspective. (I do have a friend who is an Orthodox Jew who is in the program and loves it, so being a Christian is definitely not a requirement). I think there is a thread about the program somewhere on this board...

Thanks Rolliepolee for getting the info! Does anyone know if Open house is at night? I am getting so excited!!

Agh! The open house is the same day as my Micro final. Hopefully it will be later in the day. My final is at 9am in Moreno Valley...keeping my fingers crossed...again!

I was told yesterday that orientation would be January 5 & 6...

I just followed up with the program coordinator today & she told me that registration will start @ 830, the program will start at 9, and we should be done by 130 or 2 pm.

Hmm. That's weird. The program coordinator didn't seem like she was particularly uncertain about the dates that she gave me. From my understanding, she's going to be at open house on the 15th.

I know that some people are looking to alternatives for University of Oklahoma. There another program that I had been considering. It was Concordia University in Irvine. They also have an accelerated BSN program and it is only 12 months. The application deadline is in January or Febuary for Fall 2010. I attended an informational seminar and it seems like a pretty solid program...just a thought.

Do you know how much the program costs at Concordia? Just wondering? Thank you for the post, I too was looking into alternative programs since OU pulled out of CA. 12 months would be great too. =D

So Cal

Concordia cost is comparable to OU, but they require some additional classes. For me that means it will be Spring '11 before I can start now - sigh!

Who knows... hopefully we will get something official soon. It was the site director that told me that it was the 5 and 6 so I don't know who has accurate information.

Which are the additional classes required at Concordia? Chem/ Biochem... I hope not... that is the one set of classes that I dread...I applied at Western University for the Entry Masters Program but not sure if I will compare well with the other students. Still waiting for their answer. But in the mean while, I'm in search of a Plan C, D, E, F... Can't have too many contingency plans now days. I went to West Coast University for a semester and the thought of paying so much ate me up. If I can't find another school that will take me in, I may have no choice if I want to get out within a reasonable time. I like that national university is WASC and CCNE approved. I have to get this done within a reasonable time frame because my little boys and husband are counting on me to pull my weight.

Thank you for the quick response. =D
