University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi All,

I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?

I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know how financial aid works for the program? Were people in the program able to get a combination of government and private loans?

After I filled out the FAFSA, I was given two federal loans and a variety of options of private loans to choose from to make up the remainder of the tuition. I have not received anything yet but I am supposed to be receiving the first disbursement from the federal loans right before classes start.

Does anyone have the link to where we submit our deposit? I left the paper at home with the instructions for how to do it.

It's www.ouhsc.edu/enrollmentdeposit, but you'll need your University ID # and Application # that are listed on the letter.

I hope that helps!

Oh. Hmmm. i guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to do it then. Thanks for the link tho!

You may still need the letter though because it will ask you to provide your university ID # as well as your application #.

I have CPR class on the 6th!

Specializes in Emergency Department.

I am also taking CPR on the 6th! Time is just flying by...we will be starting classes before we even know it.

Does anyone have any idea of how much we will be spending at open house (scrubs, id badges, lab bags, etc.)? Just trying to prepare myself!

From what I remember, it depends on what you buy. They will have a rep from ACE uniform who will give you the opportunity to buy scrubs that will need patches (at least two sets are needed)I think that these were about $35 a piece, nursing shoes (they made such a big deal about white shoes but most clinical instructors were OK with sneakers), a stethoscope,(anywhere from $15-100) a community polo and a badge clip.

The lab bag is about $150.

Lots of luck to those of you beginning!

Good News! I spoke with my professor today and she is allowing me to take my Micro final early so that I can attend the Open House on the 15th! I am so excited. Bad news is that I have to take the final 6 days before everyone else...I better start studying now!

Can't wait to see you all on the 15th!

hi,

i received an email last night regarding the sdsu acquisition of the ou program. here is the text from that email.

"as you may have heard, the 2010 spring cohort for the university of oklahoma college of nursing program will be the last class admitted in glendale. budgetary pressures have caused ou to reassess out-of-state projects, and the economic pressures have been too strong to overcome. all existing students will be taught to completion, and activity will go on in our offices in glendale.

now, the great news! the ou program in california has always operated as a collaboration between ou, glendale adventist and san diego state university. when it was determined that ou would no longer offer the program to new applicants, san diego state university agreed to step in and offer a very similar program right here in glendale. in fact, the new sdsu online accelerated bsn, pending all necessary regulatory approvals, will operate out of the same offices that the ou program has used. some of the requirements for the sdsu program will be different than ou, so it's important that we talk to you before you enroll in any new classes this spring.

i'm writing you today to invite you to an informational session regarding the new sdsu online accelerated bsn program. while the details are still being finalized and the approvals from the necessary agencies are being sought, we want to make sure you are taking the correct prerequisite coursework to be eligible for the sdsu program. pending approval, we expect the program to begin classes in 2010. please be our guest at one of our upcoming information sessions. by clicking the link below, you will see all of the available times and dates we will have these sessions. because there is limited space, and since we anticipate great interest in the new program, please make sure to check all that apply for you so that you can be assured of a space! we will send a confirmation to you as to which date and time you are scheduled for within one business day of the rsvp. if you cannot make any of the info sessions, please check the appropriate box and then we will be in contact with you to discuss your options. it is important to note that the sessions that are being held for this are designed for those that have met with us previously; those who have not met with us are not being invited at this time.

information session rsvp

the details for the sdsu program are still in development, and as much information as possible will be provided at the information session. because the sdsu program has agreed to retain many of the ou staff members, we will remain your primary point of contact for your nursing education. this should be a seamless transition for you. we look forward to sharing the new details of the new program with you soon. if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 1-877-505-2276 and we will assist you with as much information that we currently have. it is important to reiterate that many details at this point are still pending approval, including tuition rates, application deadlines and start times, as well as the number of students per start, so please understand that while we may not have all of the answers you desire at this point, we are working towards getting more information as soon as possible."

new prerequisites... eeks.

Hi Everyone-

Congrats! fellow 1979 birth year =D I would say the same thing. Have a backup plan just in case things like the budget problem with OU's out of state program occur or just that you may not get in.

So Cal Nursing Student
