  1. Hello! I was offered a position in L & D at Sharp Mary Birch which I gratefully accepted. I graduated from University of Oklahoma Accelerated BSN program in San Diego in August 2010. We did all of our clinicals at Sharp facilities around the county. I had no previous nursing experience! This was the 2nd time I applied to Sharp's New Grad program, the first time I didn't even receive an email confirming receipt of my app, etc. Because I wanted to focus on Women's Health, I took a class called "Regional Perinatal" which is a class that Sharp sends their employees for training. The cost is close to $1000 and it is a 6 week class, two days a week, for eight hours a day. I also completed certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Fetal Monitoring, Regional Perinatal. When Sharp posted New Grad positions, Mary Birch required that specific class. I highly reccommend the class for those who want Women's Health! At the end of the day, an employer wants to see your motivation and determination. For those who don't get a position this time around, focus on an area you want to work and do everything you can to prepare yourself, (IV certs, EKG, ACLS, etc). For those interviewing.....I had a panel interview as well and they asked a lot of behavioal questions.....be prepared with answers to all possible BQ. Write the out, with examples.....let them know that you can critically think in tough situations! Know important lab values, disease processes and nursing interventions.....remember your care plans....take them out and read the info. Most importantly BE YOURSELF, BE CONFIDENT, and convince them that you will make a strong contribution to their organization. Know Sharp's Mission, Core Values, and tie in how important they are to your nursing career! Hope this helps! Good luck!
  2. Hi! It was Mary Birch! A few a of my friends are still waiting to hear back from Chula as well. It's funny.....my choices were Mary Birch and Chula L & D, and I was only asked to interview for MB. Did you happen to interview with both?
  3. Thanks! I received a call last Wednesday and was offered the job! I'm so thrilled! Good luck everyone!
  4. Hi SDChick~ Thanks for the well wishes! It went great! The interviewers were such nice women and it was very relaxed and conversational. A few clinical questions/scenarios, mostly behavioral questions. I strongly advise studying the John Hopkins Interview Guide! I'm hoping to hear something in the next couple of weeks! Keep us posted if you hear anything, and good luck everyone!
  5. Thank you friend! Let's meet for coffee soon and catch up! xoxoxoxo
  6. Hi everyone. I am interviewing with a panel next thursday for L & D! Any advice is welcomed!
  7. Hi Everyone~ I was also on the Scripps thread and received the "no thank you" email. Sad! I'm sure it will all work out when the time is right. I also applied to Sharp (Labor and Delivery at two hospitals). Last Friday I received a call to schedule a phone interview, which was on Monday. I think it went great! The next step is an in person interview scheduled for April 6th and 7th. I live in San Diego, went to an accelerated BSN program (finished August 2010) and completed all my clinicals within the Sharp system. I also applied last round and never recieved a call. Who knows how they select candidates. My fingers are crossed for all of us!!!!
  8. Thanks for following up with Toni! I was starting to worry, although my status still says applicant review. Congrats to all who received an offer!!!! Let's keep the faith!
  9. Hi Everyone~ I interviewed on Tuesday afternoon, 1 interview---and I thought it was great. 4W La Jolla~ Hope to hear good news soon! Good luck everyone!!!!!
  10. Thanks~ I live in San Diego. I'm sure it probably takes longer because you are located out of state. The trick worked for me and I'm sure you'll get your results soon. How's the job market in Florida?
  11. Wooooooooohoooooooooooo I passed! Best day of my life!
  12. I took my test last thursday in Ca as well and still nothing. Thank god for the "good pop up". I know they post the results at 2 or 3am daily so hopefully we will see our names tonight. Good luck~
  13. Hi all~ I took the test yesterday at 2pm, answered 110 questions and when I got home "the good pop-up". I'm not sure where they find the NCLEX questions, they were all so very random. Should I worry? I'm in CA so no quick results~
  14. Hi everyone, I am a 3rd semester student and was shocked to hear the sad news. To all of those who applied for Spring and get accepted, TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY PEOLPE and be grateful that you were chosen. It is a rigorous accelerated program that offers students so much nursing knowledge. Good luck~
