Umson spring 2016 applicants

Published

Hello, all!

My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program :cat: I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!

I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:

A: A&P 1

A: A&P 2

B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)

I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)

I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.

I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!

I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!

No clue, that's why i ask hahaha :)

Wait, so I will have another 2 years of school to become an RN no matter what program I join or where? I thought there was a way to become an RN in 2-3 years total?

I have looked at the website and it seems that new BSN and CNL applicants actually register for their classes during the SSIP program

i suggest you call kathie davies she is the program manager at shady grove, she can help walk you through what you have to do next. and she is the one who adds you to the fb page

Unless you have a previous Bachelor degree, most nursing programs are 2 years. A community college program will give you an associate degree and RN, while a university will give you a bsn and RN

@Bashluv for that FB page, is it just for shady grove students? I applied to the Baltimore campus so maybe that's why I won't be expecting an invitation from that group.

@tflores am not sure about Baltimore student the page am on is for shady grove students

I called again this morning and spoke to admissions to see if decisions will still be completed today. It was confirmed that everyone that's still committee ready should be able to see their decision by the close of business. It's 3:30pm now and I really hope this is true. If it doesnt happen today I will just stop checking all together until I receive a letter. It's such a fustrating wait....

Did anyone receive a status change today?

@marebear82189 you may want to check some colleges and Universities that have accelerated Nursing programs. Mine is 15 months but I'll be in a program with those that already have a Bachelors degree. I'm part of a veteran program. There are universities that offer accelerated programs but you have to look and they are more difficult because of the fast pace. Other than that yes, programs are 2 years after prereqs.

For those who are still waiting, I hope all of you get your answers today. I know this waiting is unbearable for you guys

LIES ALL LIES lol. It's 5:10pm and my status hasnt changed. They closed at 5pm. Maybe they were sick of all of the calls they received so they are just telling us what we want to hear. :-/

Good luck for those who are still waiting. @dbank009, my status changed last Friday at around 11 p.m. ;) I hope you get in!!
