Hello, all!
My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!
I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:
A: A&P 1
A: A&P 2
B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)
I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)
I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.
I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!
For those who were accepted in the Baltimore campus, anyone interested in creating and joining a FB page for our class? It seems that shady grove students have their own group and I wanted to see if anyone was interested in joining a group that was specifically for our class at Baltimore too.
Ugh, I can't believe that all nursing programs are another two years after prerequisites! This is why I wanted to do UMSON traditional bsn program, it doesn't make sense that you can attend 4 years of school to become an RN and earn an associates, or you can attend four years of school to become an RN and earn a bachelors. does not make sense to me at all!
Actually if you're going for your ASN it won't take 4 years. Nursing school only requires prereqs and for a ASN degree it's usually the same and alot less. So A&P 1-2, Nutrition, Micro, and maybe a couple others. U can usually get that done in 2 semesters. Not sure where you're located but check out NVCC. They have a hybrid option and I think it's accelerated. It's a ASN but you get it fast.
Traditional is 4 year.. with pre-recs.. = BSN + NCLEX + RN lisc.
ASN (community college) is 2 years with pre-recs. If you graduate from a 2 year you take the NCLEX and become a nurse but if you want to get your BSN you'd to into an RN-BSN program and get your BSN in 2 years to match up to 4 years like a traditional nursing school.
They both can take 4 years if you want your BSN but the fastest way to get your lic. is through a ASN program.
Then theres those who graduated with a different degree from a 4 yr school and still took all the pre-recs but graduated with a non-nursing major & then go back to a school for one year or 15/18m and get your 2nd degree BS in Nursing.
