Hello, all!

My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program :cat: I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!

I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:

A: A&P 1

A: A&P 2

B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)

I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)

I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.

I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!

I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!

Hi Christina! My name is Emily. I am too looking to get into UMSON for spring 2016. I am taking my TEAS next week and am freaking out. You sound like you will surely get in! You did great in all your classes. I have gotten a B in A&P 1. I'm taking chemistry this Summer. Not too excited for it. Then A&P 2 and Microbiology next semester.

Hello Christina and Emily! My name is Sara and I will be applying to UMSON for spring 2016 too! Are you guys all applying for BSN program?

I applied to UMSON last semester for Fall 2015 but I didn't make it.

So I'm trying again!

I am planning on retaking TEAS and A&P1.

Hope I do well this time!

Hey yall. I'm applying as well. I've already submitted my application, I'm just waiting for reference letters to be sent in. I've taken the TEAS and did OK but I think I may take it again over the summer.

It's still a little early, but maybe this should be moved to Maryland Nursing?

This is sooo nerve wracking! I am taking College Alg. right now during a summer semester (yuck) and I currently have an 88. I am okay with getting a B, since 15 weeks of precalc condensed into 5 weeks is pretty brutal! I have not taken the TEAS yet, which I am also very nervous about. I know you can only take it once every 60 days, so basically if I botch it then I am screwed! Ahh! Any advice on preparation for the TEAS?

I hope your chemistry class is going well!!! Ah!

It is awesome hearing from others who have applied! I am just waiting to take my TEAS. Everything else in my application looks pretty impressive, but I am really worried about the TEAS. Do you have any advice on preparation?

Oh gosh I take my precalc final tomorrow. I'm taking a break from studying right now.

The TEAS is pretty well covered in the ATI book in you got the bundle. I took the pretests to get a feel for it which helped. Now that I've finished Chemistry and finishing precalc I'll be taking it again next month to improve my score

Are you guys all registering through PSI?

Yes i registered with PSI. If theres a community college or university near you that offers it u can sign up with them. It's often a TON cheaper. Just make sure they offer it for everyone or if they only offer it for students applying for their nursing program. Down here, Marymount U. offers it for everyone.

I live in Maryland and I checked all the locations but they don't offer it unless I am applying to their nursing program.

But last time they had one location offered TEAS exam to everyone but I guess they took that place off from the list.

So I guess I have to register through PSI:(

Hey @casmithx95 and everyone!

Wow, based on your grades and experience, it looks like you have a really good chance of getting in!

I also applied to an ADN program and got in for Fall 2015 but, like you, I want to challenge myself further with going straight for UMB's BSN program.

I have already submitted my application for UMSON Spring 2016 and am waiting for my letters of recommendations to be sent. I've taken most of the prereqs from my previous bachelor's degree and am finishing up Nutrition and Microbiology. My TEAS score was in the 86th percentile overall, but I didn't do so well on the Math section. From when I took the TEAS, you do have to register for the test through PSI.

I'm hoping that my work experience in the healthcare field (working in a doctor's office and hospital) will help contribute to my application seeing as my GPA is not so impressive (thanks to a rough start in in college during my freshmen and sophomore years). Thankfully, I've learned a lot since then and am more focused on my career path. Even though acceptance/waitlist/rejection notifications don't come until later on this year in November/December.... the time between now and then is going to be nerve-racking!
