Umson spring 2016 applicants

Published

Hello, all!

My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program :cat: I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!

I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:

A: A&P 1

A: A&P 2

B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)

I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)

I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.

I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!

I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!

I emailed the assitant director of admissioms and the director of admissions! And I called the admissions number...I have not received a call upon acceptance, so I haven't even had the chance to talk to anyone! I will call tomorrow and will be visiting Monday if I havent heard anything! Thanks :)

Any one have any advice as to how best become an RN in maryland, fast? Since I've been waitlisted, and im a realist, I've realized my odds are low and decided I should try to become an RN in the meantime. I will be getting my associates in "nursing transfer" this semester from AACC, because I was obviously planning to transfer. I'd apply to AACC's nursing program but the advisor tools me to not even bother because the wait list is ten miles long and they always take Anne arundel residents first, which I am not. And I refuse to go back to HCC, I live in howard county but really hate that school. Of course I know it's too late to get into any other programs in the spring, but any advice anyone has for me I'd appreciate it. I'd like to become an RN in the most time efficient way possible at this point.

To those of u still waiting, don't give up hope! I was late finding out myself, and thought I was sure to not make it. I was waitlisted, but it sounds like there have been some acceptances since mine, so time isn't necessarily a factor as to if you will get in or not. Good luck!

All nursing programs are two years...whether it is through community college or a university. And most start in the fall and in the spring...so your wait is probably going to be the same no matter where you go...you can apply to Maryland again in the fall,or apply to another university or community college. Becoming a rn isn't a quick process!

I think the main difference is community college is "part time" (credit wise) whereas a university is full time...you leave both a RN, but at a university you obtain a BSN degree. So I guess it is a personal decision to weigh out the pros and cons of each...I was accepted into Carroll Community College's nursing program but declined because I figured that both programs (community college and university) takes two years...I'd rather just knock it all out!

No, that's not how it works. I called. They made a mistake on my application. They don't do it like that.

So it's been a while since I even checked this thread or my status but........ I'm still committee ready!! LMAO!!!! This only further lets me know I made the right decision. IDK what's going on this year. I've never seen posts of them making these location mistakes and decisions going like this.

don't you love those signs that let you know you made the right choice? :)

Hey guys I just got off the phone with admissions and the lady told me that we would know our decisions by Wednesday for sure. But then again they told some of you that we would know by friday so who knows. Hopefully we all get in!!

Just got hired as an ER tech!!! Still at committee ready and hoping for the best! Got into Drexels 11month program starting in the Fall so excited about that. Congrats to everyone thats gotten accepted so far!

So, everything got settled and I am in at Shady Grove :) I was wondering how much everyone has done in regards to their acceptance materials. I made the deposit and am wondering if anyone has set up an account or scheduled classes?

Can we already schedule classes? And how do we create an account? I haven't done anything yet, just turned in my deposit yesterday. I'm about to get started with this certified background profile since I'm already up to date with immunizations
