My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!
I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:
A: A&P 1
A: A&P 2
B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)
I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)
I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.
I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!
Yeah I was waitlisted for Fall 2015 too and have forwarded my application. I'm currently in a CNA class at Howard community college and will have that completed by the end of October. Also, have all A's on my prereqs and about 150 hours volunteering in a hospital.
I was informed by an admissions person that since we were waitlisted last fall we will not be able to view our surfs account. The admission committee will call or e-mail in mid November to inform us of acceptance, waitlist, or rejection. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

firenze25, when you say the admissions committee will notify you mid-November... Do you know if that counts for all applicants or just those who were on the waitlist and had their applications roll over?
Kinda late on this thread, but I have also applied for the Spring 2016 :) Seems like everyone applied for the Shady Grove while I applied at the Baltimore campus lol. Scored an 86 on my TEAS and I currently have a 3.9 GPA, just finishing up my last 2 prerequisites: Chemistry and Nutrition. Praying I hope I get in. I also applied to Towson as a back up just in case, but UMSON is really my number 1 choice. Hope you all get in! :)
I was pretty patient the first month, but now I am going crazy! I cannot imagine waiting another month! A representative from UMSON was at my community college today for the transfer fair. I was able to chat with her and she informed me that decisions come out around mid-November. However, based off of previous forums, I have seen decisions come out around the first week of November.
I asked her about the increase in class size at Shady Grove. She informed me that last year, they increased the amount of accepted students at both campuses, but only slightly. But that is still good news :)
I hope everyone is keeping busy! For everyone currently taking course work: KEEP IT UP! I am so anxious to start nursing school and have absolutely ZERO interest in Chemistry!!!
October is dragging by. I've applied to UMSON and MC, with UMSON being my first choice. I've been waitlisted twice so I'm beginning to feel like there is no hope. But usually the application is updated the first week of November, last year I remember it being November 8th that I saw it updated. Good luck everyone :)
Hello. I have applied for UMSON Baltimore, spring 2016 semester. I had a few hiccups throughout the application process, the most devastating being a mysteriously disappearing transcript that I paid for, but never made it's way to the admissions office. I am trying to stay positive. I wish you guys and gals much luck and success and minimal stress. Happy waiting season!!!
does anyone know any timeline estimate of when we all may start receiving acceptance (fingers crossed lol) letters or statuses online? I have also applied to UMSON Spring 2016 at the shady grove location. I currently have a 3.909 gpa, with straight As other than one B in organic chem. However, I am still completing my prereqs this semester and have my hands full with 19 credits. I am retaking Microbiology, English 1, and Human Growth & Development this semester because I previously got Ds in them when I first attended school 7-8 years ago(long long story). they have a transcript of my Ds from my previous school but are also aware that I am retaking the classes and have an almost pristine straight A record for the past couple years so I am hoping they don't dismiss my application! I also have some killer teacher recommendations (one teacher was even nice enough to send my a copy of his letter... I couldn't BELIEVE how much he wrote and what he wrote, I was completely blown away by it and felt my odds increase just reading it!). my TEAs were not as great as I thought, I think they were about 83.7 or something (can't remember the percentile value, but it was over 95 or 97). Anyways, shady grove UMSON is the only school I bothered applying to and I am super super nervous. I have never been nervous like this before :-\ I know people who stressed over getting into UMBC and I half-assed my application there years ago and didn't submit half the requirements but still got admitted. strange. all I know is I am so nervous! I wish (hint hint) there might be someone out there that may be able to clue me in as to what my odds are of getting in. but I know that is a long shot. All I know is that I wish us ALL the best of luck, and I can't wait to meet my fellow classmates at shady grove if I do get lucky. Can't wait to meet you all!!!!!
I waited so long for this moment, it won't hurt waiting a little more. I was starting to get anxiety over this acceptance letter! But, now that I'm at this point, I might as well enjoy every moment of this short break:)
