uk nurses who have come to the usa

I am in the usvi, and have been here nearly a year, maybe all the nurses who have posted their news about immigration, can now post about the differences in the us hospitals. I dont think that american doctors and nurses fully understand where we come from, and the working environment of the nhs, its only when we get here that we can understand the differences. I am sure that stateside hospitals are different even from here. and that they also vary from state to state, but maybe nurses who are waiting to come will be able to pick up some tips and know more than us what to expect.

hi anna, it must be a major headache to bring your dogs over here.

do you not worry about bringing them to such a warm climate and with different bugs etc, that they are not used to?

am a bit worried but more with the hassle of arranging and will probably go with a agency who do this for a living will cost more but they do all the paperwork and getting them on the flights we are planning on coming over a week early to them so will hopefully sorted out where we will be living so just a case of picking them up from the airport

they will adapt so not worried about that. just can't leave them

there are two companies who can tell you all about this sort of thing anna

they are called http://www.airpets.com and another called petexports

there is also http://www.airsupplyshipping.com

i havnt used these people myself but know of others who have found them all good

they will tell you what you require, you may need rabies vaccinations but to be honest im not sure.

thanks for this already got airpets but will ask for a quote a bit nearer the time. Have 3 agencies for pet travel so they will all get asked for a quote.

another night in work, i was talking to an american traveller who had a personal call regarding her sone in work today. a remark made by one of the other nurses left her in tears. sometimes its as hard for americans as it is for the brits.

it looks like there are going to be many nurses coming here in the next few months, lots coming to arizona, we will have to arrange a get together and compare notes. i read the threads and forget who has gone where, and how far into the process that you all are.

great thread very positive and so good to hear people having a wonderful time!! ive passed my nclex in may i with ogp and still havnt heard anything from them is this normal.

i have a question, my boyfriend who is travlling with me wishes to get into university to complete his masters, however ogp couldnt give us any idea of which state we are likely to be placed in. could anyone shed any light from experience?? as by the time we find out from ogp it will too late for him to apply to do his masters.

they had mentioned direct placement with the hospitals who come to london to recruit. and im under the impression your contract with ogp will end then is this true?? or is it to good to be true??

no that is correct but first you will need to complete your contract with ogp

hi curlysin, do you know that your boyfriend who is travelling with you can get a green card with you if you are married.

dont know anything about the direct hire from ogp. but over here there is such a shortage of nurses that you will get a job anywhere. you dont have to worry about the end of your contract.

ogp told me i would no longer be with them once i signed contract directly with hospital, where i would then complete A 24 MONTH ONE WITH THEM??

the whole clause thing about owing them mega bucks is scarying me abit!!

i have been with my boyfriend for along long time and yes one day we do intend getting married but certainly not just to get a green card!! im aware the people who have done this have ruined it for the resr of us honest people eh!!

any ideas on what is next for me?? now that iave my nclex?
