UK Nurse Registration Full Application and Assessment stage before OSCE

Published

Hi People

I am a UK born citizen trained in Australia hence I am going via the overseas trained route. I passed my CBT test and am in the full application and assessment stage.

I am interested in sharing information with people who are also in this stage of the application.

I commenced my application in 2013 under the old process which was rejected due to lack of clinical hours. I received a letter from NMC advising me of the new process. Like many people on this forum, this entire process has been long, drawnout, frustrating and tedious for me!!!!!!!

Hi thanks for your response.

I am in Australia however I am holding off booking flights due to waiting for the decision letter. I have contacted uni of Northampton and they have given me available dates, although they have not indicated I can sit the osce without the decision letter issued first. Also, in terms of visas (being Australian) I thought that we normally would go through on just an entry visa, which is normally 3-6 months duration and then I would have to apply for a job, which would grant me a Tier 2 (General) visa? Let me know if there are any other visas I could apply for...

why would you like to transfer to UK when u r already in australia. I think, you can apply for a standard visa first then your employer will convert it to tier 2. But to be sure, you may check it online in Uk visa website

Thanks, As aAussies, we don't need to apply for a visa as we can get an entry visa for up to 6 months. I am applying for my NMC registration for the UK to be with my boyfriend. I would just need to find a job and be sponsored in order to apply for a tier 2 General visa post receiving my Pin from the NMC

Then the procedure will be easier for u. U cam go straight to UK to apply as u said. Buy I recommend that it will be better if theres already a waiting employer for u. U can email some agencies or hospitals there and tell them ur situation. I think they will probably entertain your application since you have some edge which will give them some advantages too! Would u like to email my agency? They r UK based and I assure that they will help u all through out. You can even tell them which location u wish to work.

Goodluck!!!

Hey there, I'm Aussie too and waiting for my DL.

But I'm confused about your post re the entry visa- which one is this? I've been under the impression a COS and Tier 2 visa must be issued before leaving Aus for UK? Is this not your plan?

Hi Rich, I have the same condition. However, we dont have geriatric ward in the Philippines and I dont know what to do next. :( what did you do because they are requesting additional reference form. :(

Hi, I'm from the USA and you don't need a visa to go take the OSCE, but if you plan on staying to work you must enter with a work visa. I received my acceptance in Sept. and am sitting for the OSCE soon. They require you wait minimum 2 weeks from receiving your decision letter. Check out the pass rates too. Looks pretty strict with the pass/fail formula so I think extra study time is a good idea. There are some good study books out there, check on Amazon

Depends on the country you are coming from. Some so require a visa to enter the UK where some don't

Hi All,

i am currently on the "Que" since 20th October and am waiting a Decision Letter to be issued. i have not heard if I am missing anything from my application, which I am hoping is a good thing. Can anyone please advise of processing times for applications? i am hoping to sit the OSCE before Christmas... Does anyone also know how close to the OSCE date on receiving a decision letter you can book? thanks in advance

hi, as for me, i assumed i have been placed on queue 21st july because that's when i got all of my barcoded documents in, and of course my documents required to be uploaded to the nmc site. when i called NMC though, i was informed i was put in queue 10th of august, so we can't really assume the date when we were put in queue?

i got my decision letter exactly 3 months, 21st july to 21st october. i have been asked to provide additional info such as my ielts results (i submitted 2 of them, regular and ukvi), and a new police clearance from here in the philippines. took them 2 weeks to process each, they say there's an influx of applicants from all over the world, plus there was a huge system breakdown at the time.

so my suggestion is, call every so often. i can't advise you to call earlier than the 70th day you were put on queue, but yeah i suggest call them on the 70th day and beyond when you "assume" you have been placed on queue. they will be sympathetic with you and will try process your application on the same day.

Hi guys, how long does it take before the nmc will confirm the successful payment of the application fee of 140GBP?...

i just paid yesterday and it showed a successful transaction,it's also reflected on my visa card that there was a transaction made and payment of the said same amount. However, when i checked and logged in on my nmc account today, it still asks me to pay the 140GBP application fee(which i already paid yesterday).

Hi guys.

What is the best and faster courier here in the Philippines?.LBC,DHL,FedEx?

Regarding the nmc forms, is it all right if i use cellular numbers?my company/health center and supervisors here both stopped their landline connections since 2013.

Thanks.

Any courier will do, anyway you can track it online. I shipped my documents thru DHL

Hi has anyone tried to call NMC hotlines to follow-up their application in the past few weeks? I can't contact their hotlines! What numbers did you use to call them? (Philippines)
