Sponsorship in the U.K.
Is sponsorship a relatively easy process for NHS trusts to undertake? We are not looking at getting hitched straight away and don't want to feel pushed into it, hence going down the sponsorship route..

Sponsorship in the U.K.
Hi sliverdragon, Thanks for your response and apologies for my late one. My partner is English. Even if we married I would still be unable to work for 2 years unless sponsored by work. I have found that I can only be sponsored by that particular trust. Would there be more chance of positions being advertised coming into the summer months? It is a holiday destination during summer therefore more tourists placing demands on the one hospital located in the area. There was a position advertised which I could have applied for however I had not obtained my NMC registration by that stage and that was in December, nothing since. I am unclear as to how often demand is placed on EDs in the UK to recruit, especially coming into summer. The only other option I have is to take a 3 month contract with continental travel nurse (as I believe they are the only agency that can sponsor nursing staff over 31?) as a band 5 in London until a position becomes available in desired hospital. Thoughts?? Regards

Sponsorship in the U.K.
Thanks, I have just returned to Australia in the last couple of days after sitting the OSCE (which I passed). I am just waiting for the NMC to complete a final check of my application. They said I would hear in 72 hours, which should be next week I hope when I receive my PIN. I am in a frustrating position as I am 40 years of age and currently employed as nurse manager of a small ED and I would be earning less than half in a band 5 position. If I was originally sponsored as a band 5, will I be able to apply for higher positions on what looks to be a restricted certificate of sponsorship. How restricted is that certificate of sponsorship? I don't want to be a band 5 for the lifetime of the sponsorship. Also, would I be sponsored by the specific hospital or by the NHS? That is, could I apply for other positions within NHS hospitals or am I restricted to that individual hospital? Thanks in Advance

Sponsorship in the U.K.
Hi there, i am keen to obtain work in the UK as RN (Adult) specialising in ED. I will require sponsorship. I am aiming for at least a band six position in a specific hospital in the UK (my partner resides in the area). Is it acceptable to send the HR department my CV, or shall I wait until a position is advertised? How long does the whole recruitment process take if successful? Thanks in advance,

Band 6 presentation
Hi there, how did did the presentation go? I am also seeking a band 6 position in the uk now after successfully passing the OSCE. Due to my age I will need to be sponsored. I am Australian with no uk ancestry. How did you find the interview and did you also have to go through the whole sponsorship process under a tier 2 visa? If so, how long did it take?

UK Nurse Registration Full Application and Assessment stage before OSCE
Thanks, As aAussies, we don't need to apply for a visa as we can get an entry visa for up to 6 months. I am applying for my NMC registration for the UK to be with my boyfriend. I would just need to find a job and be sponsored in order to apply for a tier 2 General visa post receiving my Pin from the NMC

UK Nurse Registration Full Application and Assessment stage before OSCE
Hi thanks for your response. I am in Australia however I am holding off booking flights due to waiting for the decision letter. I have contacted uni of Northampton and they have given me available dates, although they have not indicated I can sit the osce without the decision letter issued first. Also, in terms of visas (being Australian) I thought that we normally would go through on just an entry visa, which is normally 3-6 months duration and then I would have to apply for a job, which would grant me a Tier 2 (General) visa? Let me know if there are any other visas I could apply for...

UK Nurse Registration Full Application and Assessment stage before OSCE
I have submitted my online application and sent all remaining documentation in (refs, good health etc) although I have noticed in the last few days that I cannot access my online application to see if the documents sent have been received and uploaded. It is saying the server is down. Has anyone else had this problem? I am concerned that I won't be able to access my application to see if they have received everything or know where it is at..it has just come up with a message that my application will be processed in 40 - 70 days. Can anyone tell me current processing times and if they have had the same server error message? Thanks!

Can someone give an indication of current processing times once your application has been placed in the que? Will I receive a decision letter by post or by email? If I have received a decision letter does this mean I can book the OSCE?

NMC CBT test
Hi All, I am an Aussie nurse who is trying to go through fulfilling requirements for registration in the UK. I am due to sit my CBT (test of competence for adult nursing) on the 13th July and am concerned that I have not allowed myself enough time to study. Can someone advise if it is enough to read the NMC Domains (which I presume are the 'blueprints') or will I need to do further readings with all the links that are provided at the back of each domain? It seems an awful lot to study in a short amount of time. Isn't the test more common sense than anything? Some advise would be appreciated!
