Summer hopefuls talk here.... good luck to us all!!! :nurse: :redbeathe

Iloveucla,

The UD didnt call me either. I guess I didnt get the job offer. :crying2: Too busy studying for the Nclex to deal with rejection, which will pull down my self esteme, which isnt so high at the moment dealing with the Nclex. I will just wait for the rejection email or phone call.

Hi!!! I know what you talking about! the same here. I'm just waiting for the rejection letter anyways! lol

I emailed her today, but no reply yet! I would have never put L&D as my first choice, if I knew they are interviewing RNs with exprience for the new grad program. That doesn't even sound right!!!!!!! :lol2:

I was called today and scheduled for a May 17th interview too for liver transplant icu also! sooo nervous !

Looks like liver icu is interviewing more ppl! I guess this is a sign that I'm out of the game! which is torture for making us wait this long!!!! good luck for those interviewing!! :p

THere were some nurses (experienced) at the interview interviewing for L&D, Peds, and NICU when I was there at the interview. Last time when I interviewed for Neuro ICU, the unit manager told me she usually hires new grad and nurses (experience) at the same time in the new grad program. I think this is how it works for most hospital. Unit manager do not want to be saturated with all new grads. Experience nurses who are from other units also get new grad training but are usually are ready to work before new grads. When I applied to St Joseph for L&D, they had 3 open positions for supposedly new grads. I was called in for an interview but they did not interview me once they found out I did not have my license yet but there were nurses (with Med surge experience) there interviewing for the same positions.

So, I figured if I apply to a specialty dept, then there will be experienced nurses to compete with. That's reality of life, but it sucks for new grads!!!!

don't think that!!! the lady who called me said that they started pulling people off the waitlist for this position...maybe you will get called too! I totally stopped hoping for UCLA to call me ever since they started interviewing the first batch back in March...then out of of nowhere today UCLA calls me. So not all hope is lost!

Oh no I was in the group of ppl who were interviewed already in the month of April so we haven't gotten any results or calls back of our status. They mentioned making decisions on May 16th and now it sounds like they're interviewing another set! So that gives me more reason to believe that I'm off the hook! lol! but good luck in your interview!!!

Anyone coming from out of state: how are you getting fingerprinted for your license? are you flying out and doing live scan, or doing the fingerprint card that takes 1-2mons to process?

I'm going the route of transferring my NY license as opposed to getting the cali license right away but theres still the fingerprinting problem. I'm just worried about my CA license not being ready by the start date. what will happen? will they fire me? lol

Also not to be corny but maybe we can start a facebook group for all the new grads starting at ucla?

GOOD LUCK to everyone still waiting to hear back!!

oh my gosh I am totally in the same boat. I requested the fingerprint card last week but it still never came in... I need everything to be cleared by the end of July, which is my starting period.. but I'm going to do the card.. then check on my status when I fly to CA to look for an apartment, and the probably do the livescan during that time (early- mid june).. the lady said the card may take 45 days, but the livescan 10-15 days..

When do you have to have everything finished by?

Oh I'm sorry!!!!! :( I'm sure I didn't get the job either, otherwise she would have called me earlier too. have you applied anywhere else?

I've applied to UCSD and Fountain Valley Regional Medical Center this past week. I'm from San Diego, so I've been trying all over LA and Orange County because San Diego is just too saturated with new grad RNs. I am currently a charge nurse at a SNF, and even though it is not my first choice, I'm just doing what I can right now. Eventually I would love to end up in a hospital. Will keep trying though. Good luck to you! I heard USC had a new grad program as well, not sure if they are still accepting apps though =[

By august 8th! So you are transferring your license from another state? My plan was to send in as much paperwork as I can for the CA license and temp license in advanced, Take my boards around June 15, send in the verification, then fly out and do the live scan in July at the same time as I do my physical and stuff for ucla. Then I have to make a day trip to Sacramento to pick up my temp license a few weeks later.

I requested a card too though. Did you just fill out that one part of the website and not pay anything yet? I'm still confused about some stuff on the website :( lol.

does this mean that they couldn't find ppl in the first batch? I guess I'm out of the running :( but Goodluck to those interviewing!

congrats! i'm assuming this is your second in-person interview for the liver ICU?

nope, this is for first in-person, with the UD. i'm still shocked i got called. but hopefully i don't show up just to find out it was a mistake. HR did call me directly, though.
