Summer hopefuls talk here.... good luck to us all!!! :nurse: :redbeathe

Hey Sarah,

I too am going to meet the assistant UD and tour the unit. Any advice? What did they say the next step was from here? I still can't believe I got the chance to interview!! Yay!

Hi there!!!

So was L&D your first choice and did you have another interveiw before with the UD????

Hello everyone!

So I interviewed on May 24th for the Perioperative Training Program and it has been a really long wait. I have called twice (once at 2 weeks after the interview and once at 4 weeks after the interview) and left a message both times with one of the ladies I interviewed with. Now it has been 6 weeks since the interview...I was just wondering, for those of you who have gotten some kind of answer one way or another, how long did you wait? When should I call again or should I send an email? Who did you hear from? HR or one of the interviewers?? I would be moving from Michigan and the program starts early September, so I feel like I'm running out of time! I would appreciate any advice/information that anyone has!!!

Thanks so much!!

Hi JEP2011, I interviewed on 5/24 for OR as well and got a call this afternoon from the assistant director for a position. She said she just finalized decisions and still had about 6 people left to call. I hope you hear good news =)

So does anyone know when the next opportunity is to apply for the UCLA nurse residency program is?

Iloveucla and SarahLT_RN,

Hey did you guys get hired for the L&D position? I just got a call from ucla asking me if i was still interested in a new grad position for the L&D! How long after your in person interview did they contact you to inform you if have been selected for a position?

I had 3 interviews and a unit tour, but didn't end up getting an offer.

That rejection email was one of the most disappointing letdowns yet - after being 'courted' so much: having 3 good interviews, a unit tour, flying down there and wasting hundreds of dollars on such a big tease.

UCLA: huge tease.

I'm just saying that I was super excited about my interviews (plural), and thought if I was invited to tour and meet employees I was "in", but two weeks later I got that revolting "thanks, too many candidates, BLAH blah..." Clearly not the case, but that's what they always say, isn't it? I know some people got rejected with 6 months of experience working in a birth center, so I have no idea what incredible people they're looking for - possibly just those with 'connections'. People who did get hired knew people or precepted in the area.

I guess they're just going down the list as they systematically reject people like me, and you AZWildcat were next on the list. Good luck to you; maybe you know the right people or have some other mysterious, magical thing they were looking for.

I want to get back to CA for work eventually - just probably by starting in a market where they actually *want/need* new nurses (possibly NM, AZ, AR, WY). It sounds far better to go somewhere where people actually want us, rather than killing our spirits and bank accounts, clawing all over each other to get into huge long shots like UCLA. I'd be happy to be where I'm appreciated, even if it's not CA at first.... but I realize some of you don't have the option of relocating.

...Onward, all....

Hi Sarah_LTRN,

I also had 3 interviews and meet the staff members I thought I had a good chance of being hire but I believe that most of the position @ UCLA is filled by the UD friends or people who already work there. I just wished they would not lead us on, a lot of us new grad do not have much money to fly out to interviews, I would have though a big company like UCLA would use Skpe. I think UCLA is a lot of hype there are a lot of other terrific hospital that new grads can start there career.

Tubman - can I ask how your new position is going? Also, do you mind sharing your "resume" of sort - any unique nursing background, letters of recommendation, etc. that helped you be a strong candidate? Would love any suggestions you have. I'm graduating next year and want to prepare now....just starting an Accelerated BSN program graduating at the end of Dec. 2012.

Thanks in advance! Hope you have some time to respond, you must be busy working!!! Good for you!

Hey Everyone, I just got a call from the UD in the NICU yesterday offering me a job. I'm not sure what order she is going in or how accurate the HR department is with giving out information about when the UD's will be notifying people, but I did receive an offer. It is truly my dream job and I was starting to get really nervous as each day passed and then I saw the 825 number and got really excited. Just stay positive and hope for the best! Hopefully everyone will get a great RN position.

Hi, I am new on this forum and I just want to extend my congratulations on getting your dream job!!!.How do you like the unit? I got a call to interview for the NICU unit yesterday and I just wanted to ask you if you can please share the kind of questions you were asked at the interview and how best to prepare for the interview.

thanks.

i am awaiting the assessment what should i do

Hey so I have a question to those that have applied before:

When you check your app status and it says "routed to interviewing supervisor," did you end up getting set up for an interview? I'm trying to make sense of all the status lol. Or is this something that they list on everyones status before they actually choose who they are going to interview?

That means your resume is being considered for a potential interview.

Good luck!
