  1. Hello everyone! So I interviewed on May 24th for the Perioperative Training Program and it has been a really long wait. I have called twice (once at 2 weeks after the interview and once at 4 weeks after the interview) and left a message both times with one of the ladies I interviewed with. Now it has been 6 weeks since the interview...I was just wondering, for those of you who have gotten some kind of answer one way or another, how long did you wait? When should I call again or should I send an email? Who did you hear from? HR or one of the interviewers?? I would be moving from Michigan and the program starts early September, so I feel like I'm running out of time! I would appreciate any advice/information that anyone has!!! Thanks so much!!
  2. I checked and I have pm's enabled! You have to have a certain number of posts before you can pm :-/ so what I did was went into some forums and answered questions for nursing students and gave advice :-) if that's too much work you could just write it here lol..
  3. Alright, sounds great! Thanks for the info!! And I know...March seems like forever ago now!!
  4. Hey guys! So I interviewed a week ago with the OR, I was just wondering how long I should wait before calling back if I don't hear anything from them? Or when should I expect to hear from them? Thanks!!
  5. I have an interview with OR on Tuesday too!! I'm also very nervous. Any tips would be much appreciated! :-)
  6. Hey there! Sorry so long to respond!!! I just wanted to let you know that I didn't end up using anything to develop critical thinking skills, they just developed over time! I know that's not really what you want to hear and it looks like you've got quite a few suggestions here, so I really hope you're not still discouraged!! It'll come to you, it's just re-training yourself to think differently when test taking (easier said than done). But I know you can do it! And once you get it it'll be second nature (ish)! :) Best of luck to you!!!
  7. I also wanted to add that it does get better! There were some times (very few) that I felt like quitting because it is difficult, but you can get through it!!! It is stressful, but it will be worth it in the end! What I liked to tell myself when I was feeling stressed was that I am lucky to be in a nursing program because there are sooo many people who would love to be admitted but cannot! So hang in there! You're there for a reason :-)
  8. Hello PSUAlum, I am graduating from a four year program in a few days and reading this post brought me back to how I felt at the very beginning of nursing school! I remember the first critical thinking exam that I took, I got a score somewhere in the low 60s! I was surprised and very upset, it seemed extremely difficult and like all of the answers were correct, it was just about finding the "best right answer". There is hope! Your critical thinking skills will improve with time. Another thing that you might try is to find information about critical thinking test taking strategies. I know that it is definitely a skill that you have to learn and develop and they don't do much in the way of teaching you how to think critically in a test-taking environment. It really is unfortunate that this learning experience has to negatively affect grades. I wish you the best!
  9. I think it's great that you have finished your pre-reqs at a community college! I am just finishing my BSN from a university in a few days! I would recommend that you go for the BSN, it will be easier to get into a nursing program right away with all of the pre-reqs done and you have saved a lot of money this way! The four years really do go by quickly! You might only have three years of actual nursing school since you have pre-requisites done!! Good luck!!!
  10. I have worked part time throughout nursing school and been able to do so without (much) problem. Full time would be very difficult though!! I hope you figure this out! Best of luck to you!!!
  11. Congrats!!! It's a wonderful feeling, isn't it!?!?
  12. Thank you for this wonderful advice! This is awesome!!
  13. Thank you!!! I am really nervous -- this is my first professional interview and I have never had a panel interview before!!!
  14. I think you should be fine, Psychology is not too difficult and you will be able to focus primarily on Anatomy and Physiology!!
  15. I have really enjoyed any general psych class that I have taken. I took one in high school, one at a community college while I was still in high school, and then one at my university. I have always found them to be very interesting and not too challenging. A lot of theory-based information, but I found it very interesting! It would have been more difficult with a biological focus to psychology. I think the classes that I have taken have been easier because they were more theory-based.
