Hi everyone! I thought I'd start a thread on here for those who applied to the UC Davis RN residency program that is to start in July of this year. I applied and my status is still "020 Appl" so looks like it hasn't been reviewed yet. I'm super nervous and super stoked at the same time because this is a very prestigious hospital and the university itself is always up to par with technology and research and talent! Anyways, feel free to leave comments, suggestions, q&a's, etc...so we can all help each other. Finding the first job is always stressful and nerve wracking! And I'm not good at interviews so...there's one strike! POST AWAY!
Nope haven't heard anything. My OR status did change to "WTHDRWL" though so maybe they did eliminate that OR new grad program. That would suck especially since you all interviewed and everything.
The OR residency was cancelled... That's why your status says withdraw. Stinks because I heard people interviewed.
My friend interviewed for the OR training program and got a call last week to let her know they would not be hiring anyone due to budget issues. I spoke with a recruiter yesterday, they are still keeping the regular RN residency program this summer but it will be a much smaller cohort. He didn't give any numbers, just said "we won't be hiring many RNs this summer, it will be a much smaller cohort than usual".
They asked me for references (synonymous with skills test) a few hours after my interview. I think it depends I'm the unit though. Some people got theirs a few days later. Haven't heard anything about the new grad being canceled although there may be less openings this time around. They hired a lot in Feb/April...my unit for instance may not be hiring because the manager has been hiring almost every round & she's thinking of fully orienting all current employees before hiring again.

They only mentioned specifically the OR-new grad program, not the straight up "New Grad" program. Which is strange since we've already interviewed and everything.
