ICU Manager Interview Prep

Hello,

I just submitted my application for my ICU's nurse manager position. Would yall help me out by sending me some interview prep questions?

What I'm looking for:

  • Practice interview questions
  • How would you answer the question
  • What questions should I ask them?

About the position:

  • Managing 14 bed ICU and 6 bed step down unit in a small community hospital
  • Last 2 internal hires did not last longer than 1 year each (we were told they chose to step down because one was pregnant with her third child and the other wanted to be more involved in her toddlers' lives)
  • Upper level management is set on an external hire
  • Director says our main problems at the moment are staff accountability, quality & safety metrics (we've had near misses with both CAUTI & CLABSI)
  • Bedside staff historically prefer internal candidates

About me:

  • Bedside nurse since 2017 (1.5 years in Obs, 2 years in med/surg, 4 years in ICU) all on night shift
  • Worked at this hospital for 6 years
  • Relief charge nurse
  • Graduated with my MSN in Nurse Leadership in 2023
  • CCRN in 2024
  • Involved in Shared Governance, Code Blue Committee, Magnet Council, Hand Hygiene compliance audits, Titration audits
  • Both my director and my ACNO know me by name

Thanks in advance!!
