UC Davis New Grad Residency Fall 2020

Published

Is anyone planning on applying? Application period opens up April 29th. I am curious how it will work out with unit placement when so many programs in CA did not get to finish their preceptorships.

with it being such an unprecedented time, I wonder what they will do for those who were forced to cancel their preceptorship due to COVID

I wonder this as well. I know there were a lot of us whose preceptorships were affected, and although this was no fault of our own, I still imagine we'll appear less attractive than those who graduated a couple of months earlier and were able to complete a legitimate preceptorship. Really discouraging

I'm curious, how many preceptorship hours did you both end up completing vs how many were required at your schools?

LOL 0. The week I was starting my preceptorship was the week quarantine started and everything went to hell! We do Med surg II clinical the first half of the semester so I was able to finish that

required was 120 I believe

So does everyone's application say "Application Under Review"? Or does anyone's still say "Application Received" or anyone's change to "No Longer Under Consideration"?

Depends on how you look at it LOL. I was supposed to have my preceptorship in peds, then the facility closed to students like 3 days before it was supposed to start. I ended up being able to complete 70 (out of 110-120 I think?) in med-surg at a different hospital, but it wasn't even really a preceptorship, just a glorified regular rotation...I had a different RN each day basically

Hi all!

I applied too. This is my second time applying. Didn’t work out so well the first time LOL

Also, I know people that got interviews for ortho, burn and pcu

Do you know if those units are where they did their senior preceptorships?

Yes, all of them. They’re sac state students. UCDMC took in all csus students in their final semester of nursing school so they could get their hours
