UC Davis New Grad Residency Fall 2020

Published

Is anyone planning on applying? Application period opens up April 29th. I am curious how it will work out with unit placement when so many programs in CA did not get to finish their preceptorships.

Thx love, that's encouraging...good to know! ?

Also, who were the people interviewing you? Were you interviewed by your Med-Surg department manager, or by Human Resources personnel?

I was interviewed by the unit manager.

CONGRATS! What type of patients did they use in the scenario questions? How do you think you did prioritizing them?

I just saw this! I don't remember, it was a while back but something about low BP and two other patients with problems and who would you see first, what interventions would you do, etc. I think I did well! I was second guessing myself originally, but the interviewer was nodding and smiling a lot so I think I did it correctly.

I also interviewed with tower 3 on Monday. It's like a med-surg post partum floor. I had 3 interviewers that managed the whole area. They were asking me to initially come in in person, but I did it virtually over video. Between the two units I interviewed with, they asked similar sets of questions. I think they have a general list of question they ask for residency applicants in general.

Did you get an offer from either of the units?

Not yet. I just interviewed and should be hearing back in the next few weeks. I'll post here if I hear back on anything.

Stay positive!! You'll get the offer!! ?❤️

I answered the app question "I can start my job on or after" with "9/1/2020" because I ultimately preferred to be in the Oct. 5 cohort... IF EVER..1984837449_ScreenShot2020-07-02at2_18_39AM.thumb.png.890ae03067bca31a1af123589534329b.pngI'm just putting feelers out if anyone did a similar thing but has gotten some movement/interviews?

My app still read "Application Under Review" and part of me is hoping that maybe all these interview invites are for the Aug. 17 cohort?

Or should I just accept my fate -- That it looks like I'm not going to be a UC Davis Nurse Resident? ??

I am prettty certain that the invites are for August start date. I was invited for interviews and my application says application under review still as well. So just keep waiting, keep checking your email, don’t be afraid to reach out to HR. But I would say wait until they do all the August people interviews first and selected to even hear for the September interview invites to happen. It’s not over until it is, so I know the waiting game is torturous but don’t lose hope yet!

Did anyone here apply to both the regular new grad program and the OR training program? I just found out about live applications, and I am paranoid my OR application might have messed up my regular new grad application.

I applied to both. What is a live application?

It’s where if you make changes to your uploaded documents, it changes the documents for previously submitted applications too. I tried calling the Nurse Recruitment office, but no one answered. I figured the office opens at 8am but maybe not? I’m not sure if they’re still working from home.

I just spoke to one of the recruiters, and UC Davis does not do a live application! No need to stress.
