TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

Published

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

Does anybody know how many applicants applied to each location? Like, how many applied to the Dallas location and how many applied to the Houston location?

I think Nicole was talking about it earlier, a few pages back, and the numbers were posted if you wanna check it out!

I have been surprised with how well I've been able to keep my mind off of it...but now it's October. And I realized, omg, that was only SEPTEMBER!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!??

I feeeeeeeeeeeeel you. :(

Hey guys! I've been following your thread for quite sometime and just got a call from someone in the Nursing department regarding my CLEP scores (they couldn't find my scores for the College Mathematics Test, which would have made me ineligible, but after contacting college board, they were able to rectify the situation and find my scores in the database). So I guess they're going through the applications now and contacting people who they believe may have missing documents, classes, etc. which would make them ineligible to apply for this application period. While I had him on the phone, I asked about how much longer he expected it to be before they sent out acceptance e-mails; he said in 3 weeks. He also mentioned there were about 890 applicants this semesters (approximately 100 less than last application period). I also asked about how my application was standing overall and he gave me some stats in reference to my scores/grades: 2 first attempt A's (average), 3.682 GPA (a little below average), and a TEAS Score of 84 (a little above). I'm keeping my fingers crossed :/ . Good luck to all!

3.682 is consider below average?!?! Now I'm getting a bit nervous...... my GPA is like 3.2 but hopefully my 88 composite TEAS score will help.

Wow!! Thanks for relaying the information to us! I really do hope we know in 3 weeks...

I'm kinda shocked that a 3.6 GPA is considered below average. Good luck to you as well!

Hey guys! I am a J1 at the Houston campus and I love it! Our deadline was February 1 and I received my acceptance email (quit stalking your mailbox ... I know you do:up:) on March 29! My best advice is to read any book that you might want to or watch any movie that looks interesting now because once you get started all that is way behind you! Plus it will help take the pressure/anxiety out of waiting so long for your response! I wish you all the best of luck!

I actually received an "master schedule" from TWU for the J1 Spring 2012 semester, and it goes like this:

Monday:

8:30-12:30 Pathophysiology lecture (all sections)

12:30-4:30 Nursing Assessment (all sections)

Tuesday:

9:00-11:50 Pharmacology in Nursing Practice (all sections)

1:00-3:50 Concepts and Clinical Competencies (all sections)

Wednesday:

8:00-4:30 Nursing Assessment (sections 34,35,37,39,41)

OR

Concepts and Clinical Competencies LAB (sections 30-33)

Thursday:

8:00-4:30 Nursing Assessment (sections 30,33)

OR

Concepts and Clinical Competencies LAB (sections 34-37)

Friday:

8:00-4:30 Nursing Assessment (section 36)

OR

Concepts and Clinical Competencies LAB (sections 38-41)

NOW REMEMBER this is an old schedule and things could change!! Don't expect our schedule to be exactly like this. :D But I hope that helps a bit. It looks like each individual schedule is just going to be different according to what section you're in.

Does this mean that we would go to class for 4 days? That would be great if that's the case. I have a 2-year old, so any time I get to spend at home, even if it's studying, is appreciated!

I am so ready for this wait to be over! I have a 4.0 GPA, and all 4 first attempt A's, but I bombed my TEAS V with a 78 (I can't remember the exact score now, but it was 78.something). I didn't study the way I should have. I figured it was like the HESI, but boy was I wrong, LOL! Good luck, everyone!

I have a 4.0 and 4 first attempts A's too. I ran out of time in math and reading on the TEAS V. i made a 72. I was sad for some days, but it is what it is. Keeping my finger crossed. hoping for the best.

Whenever I asked, they told me the average GPA of people last Spring accepted was between a 3.7-3.8.

It sounds like we are in the same boat. I had just finished summer classes, and didn't plan my study time well. I could kick myself now! I heard from one of the advisors at TWU that with my stats, I needed to aim for at least a 70 to be safe. That particular advisor is no longer there, so I don't know how much stock I hold in that. She left right before the Sept. 1st cutoff, so I'm still nervous about my application! I also don't have a previous bachelor's degree or a TWU bump. Let's stay positive!

How many colleges does TWU have agreements with? I know they have a new agreement with Collin College, so they can transfer directly into the nursing program. Is that for the RN-BSN or the 4-year program? I don't think my college has an agreement with TWU.

AAAARRRGGH! I just failed at staying positive.:arghh: :banghead:
