Hello!
I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?
After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.
So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!
Generic response is right! LOL! Does anyone know if the Dallas campus has an Open House?
Wow.
Consider that this is not the nursing advisors' first rodeo. They've done this every semester for quite a while. And, yes, it's a generic answer because a) they don't know an exact date and b) if they did tell everyone an exact date, would that change how you as applicants reacted? Would that take down your level of anxiety? Would that keep you from calling them? They had to send out emails to every student on that application list that had something out of place with their paperwork and wait for a response before they can move on to the next step. And how many students applied? That takes time. It's not like they are sitting around having a laugh at you guys since September 2nd, saying "how much can we torture the new applicants?".
The reason they say end of October, beginning of November is because, historically, that is when they are done with their systematic approach. It generally falls on the last week of October. Since the last week of October coincides with the first week of November this year...... I got my acceptance on 3-29-12, a Thursday. The current J2s got theirs on 10-31-11, a Monday.
Have a little patience and respect for the advisors that do this, and for all people you (as future nurses) will encounter and care for over the next 2 years of this journey.
I know that this is a life changing decision for many of you and that makes you very nervous and anxious. I've learned one giant (two-fold) lesson since I started J1 only 6-7 weeks ago: Be confident in what you've done and then learn to let go of things that you can not control.
Wow.

Well said my friend.
This is an online forum. Sometimes things can be taken the wrong way, I guess. I thought that the "generic response" comment was funny, nothing more. I'm sure that jlmcjunkins meant nothing disrespectful by her comment, as I meant nothing disrespectful with mine. Yes, we are all stressed out, but there is no need to get bent out of shape.
Let's just see the two sides to this - yes it is a "generic" or maybe average response would have been better way of saying it so that people wouldn't read too deeply into that. On the other hand, it is a very stressful time waiting on something you can't control. Any current/former nursing student has felt the same way we feel so in regards to that...if you have done everything you can and as best you can, then that is all you can do for now! Good luck to everyone!
Hi everyone! I'm new to the board, and saw that there are a lot of posts here. Sorry if this question I have has been answered already :) I plan to apply to TWU for the February deadline to start next Fall. I want to take the TEAS sometime in January just giving me plenty of time to study the best I can; also I hear that taking Patho is a good idea before starting school, which I plan to try and do in January after taking the TEAS. I live in the Collin county area so the Dallas campus is closest to me, and I hear things such as the Patho teachers there are not being as good as the ones in Denton.. I guess we'll see. I'd love to look for study groups when I start the class, especially if the teachers are complicated along with the material. To all of the people who have taken the TEAS already, what study material was most useful? Has anyone used the study package from ATI? I struggle the most with what is most useful for a test like this that has a whole bunch of information all at once from different subjects. However, I'm looking into tutoring groups at my campus at Collin college also. I seem to do really good in groups with one other person explaining info to me that I don't understand. Any info would be great! I'm keeping my options open and am willing to get the help where ever I can get it!Thanks everyone!
Hi sparkles! If I were you, I would start a forum like this for the Fall 2013 semester! That way you can have people going through it like you - you'll develop a sort of support system haha. We all discussed our study methods for the TEAS V in the earlier parts of this forum, if you get a chance to go through it. I am sure you will find that most of us will recommend the same as Amber - nothing but the ATI (read and study it FRONT TO BACK!) and the online practice tests. And pace yourself - the time ticks away quicker than you'd think. You will get your scores emailed to you before the promised 48 hours most likely. Don't stress and good luck!

Don't stress too much about the email, as long as you responded in time, you should be fine. Good luck!!!
