TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

Published

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

Can we submit the form to denton early just as a head start?

Yes! After they process it, it will show up in your Pioneer Portal. :)

That sounds awesome! Thank you!

I have also applied for the Spring 2013 program. An advisor told me I won't have any trouble getting in, but I won't believe it until I actually get my letter.

Since you are in Dallas, can you give me some feedback about which professors you might have heard are good or those to stay away from. Most of the ones I looked up (based on this semester) are not in ratemyprofessors.com. I am very apprehensive about "taking my chances". I know we can't mention specific names in these posts, so if anyone has any info about profs at TWU Dallas, please email me - [email protected]. Thanks.

Hi. I normally just stalk and check in on you guys, but I have to put in my 2 cents here to save you guys some sanity. I'm a J1 now at Dallas. I love it and I know you will too.

Sorry to tell you, you don't get a choice in which professors you have. J1 semester they give you your schedule according to your Concepts/Clinicals group. Everyone in J1 has the same sit-down classes (but different labs). After that, you get an advisor to tell you which classes you need to take and when and there's very little variation. Most classes only have one option for instructor. When you get your acceptance letter, amongst the mass of papers you get, there's a note in there that you have to sign saying that you won't register for classes before orientation. You get your schedule and register at orientation. There will be plenty of seats in the classes you need to take.

It's really nothing to fret over. Learning to let go of control over some things was a very hard lesson that I had to learn within the first few weeks of this semester. My advice: relax and take what comes to you, and do the best with what you've got in front of you.

Hello future students :)

FYI I'm starting a blog to jot down what happens every week during my nursing school adventure (hoping it might help future students in what to expect and also just nice to have for me in the future to look back on). My Life as a Nursing Student

Good luck everyone!!!

How awesome! I will check it out. Are you a student at TWU?

No, (i go to another school in houston) but I figured my blog could help out anyone pursuing nursing. Maybe help out in showing what nursing school is really like. Good luck with TWU :)

Thank you!!

I am patiently (okay, but not so patiently) waiting for acceptance letters to be sent out! I am so nervous, I have an A in all 4 of my prereqs and an 80 on my TEAS my overall GPA is 3.652, what all is included in your science GPA?
