TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

Published

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

Oh really? I would love to meet you! I usually sit in the very front row :)

I'd like to meet you too. :) I sit on the right side and a few rows from the front. How's studying for our first exam? I'm studying... Just going to have to wait and see how effective it will be after our exam. :/

Studying is...weird. I'm not quite sure HOW to study yet, because I don't feel like I know how she's going to test. I'm exactly with you...going to have to wait and see how effective it is! Plus I waited a little bit too long to hop on the study bandwagon because I'm having to deal with all of my other classes, so I feel like I'm behind. But it's alright...I'll cram from today - Thursday morning, and hopefully that'll give me just the edge I need to feel comfortable with the material!

Good luck with studying!!!

I'm in the same boat as you! I've been scanning here and there, so I wouldn't justify it as studying. But like you, I'll be cramming till test day. Good luck with studying and the exam!

Is everyone done with their vaccinations?

Is everyone done with their vaccinations?

I'm done with all the vaccinations and titers except for the flu shot and TB test! :D I'm not required to get it, but I think I'm also going to get the meningitis vaccine.

Uh oh, are we supposed to have those done also?

Vaccinations? I didn't know we had to have vaccinations done. Can someone please tell me where I can find that information?

I thought once you were accepted you go through all the vaccinations and all that other jazz?

Yeah you do, and that's when they send you the immunization form as well; however, my advisor strongly recommended getting as much done now as possible because some vaccinations take up to six months to complete and you have to be nearly complete before starting clinicals.

Here are the vaccinations that are required:

*MMR (two injections...can also be proven by a titer if you're pretty sure you got it as a child)

*TDaP (within the last 10 years)

*Flu Shot (before May/after September)

*TB screening (within past one year)

*Hep B AND titer (three shots that take up to six months to complete; titer must be done afterward to show immunity)

*Varicella titer (if negative, must get two shots)

Hope that helps!!

Thank you, I better start making appointments!

Thanks for the info! I'm going to start on these vaccinations soon.
