TWU Applicants Spring 2011

Hello Everyone,

Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!

:D Just a word of advice...

I hope everyone has started their immunizations...especially the Hep B series.

It takes about 5-6 months to complete all three shots for Hep B, and you need to at least be on your second shot by the 1st day of clinicals.

Varicella and MMR takes 2 months to complete, and they need to be completed by clinicals.

If you want something to do, and you don't want to wait on the packet (sheets of paper) to come in the mail, START YOUR IMMUNIZATIONS!!!

Has anyone received their acceptance packet in the mail yet? Just wanted to know when orientation is.

When I dropped off my confirmation for the Dallas campus, she said the list of acceptances would be going out 10/29 afternoon and packets should start being sent this week.

From browsing the Spring 2010 thread it looks like their orientation was the Friday before finals.

Serene Peach just curious why did you turn down UH Victoria. I am interested in that program because its only a 1 year program. I plan on ultimately getting a masters.

Yoli79 - I got into both UT-HSC and TWU. These programs have been established for a while and have really good NCLEX pass rates. Although UH-Victoria is only a one-year program, I feel that it's still relatively new and unknown. It may be a great program, but since I got into two other schools, I'm going to decline UH-Victoria's interview.

Thanks so much for the quick response. I have reviewed the NCLEX rates as well for most of the schools in Texas. Sounds good.... If for some reason I dont get in UHV TWU is my second choice. I know a few nurses that have been successful in their program.

I heard Dallas orientation is December 10th.

I am just double checking, but the Hep B series is something that some of us may have already from going to public schools right? I have documentation of the dates that I had my Hep B completed, so I am just making sure this is going to suffice.

I received the invite to UHV as well....Not sure what to do now!?!

TWU or UHV? It's a shorter program...more intense of course.

One of my friends got into Houston and the other I have not heard from! It sucks but I am sure I will meet more people in the Dallas program to be friends with.

@ molinalover - They go through as many rounds as they have to in order to fill the entire class. They also have alternates for those that back out before the start date.
