Hello Everyone,
Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!
Lets Get It Started!!!
Hell everyone! I am looking to apply for spring 2012 at TWU-Houston. I will be applying going in as a second degree. I am going to retake some classes over the summer and If i get all A's in them as I plan it should bump my GPA to a 3.7-8. Not sure if this is even good enough to apply since the school is so competitive. I have not taken my Teas-V yet but plan on taking it over the summer sometime. Any advice? What score should I aim for when taking the Teas? Does anyone mind sharing what their GPA and test score was when they got accepted to the program? Is it true that dallas location is more difficult than houston? Help please!!! Thanks in advance!!
hello everyone. i have a question... ive recently been accepted into the nursing program and i havent taken the hep b vaccine. i will not be able to complete the series in time. does that mean i wont be allowed into certain classes? does anything happen to students who are not complete with this vaccine???

Well, I can't say that the Dallas program is any harder than Houston, but I CAN say that we Dallas peeps are wayyyy COOLER than the Houston peeps. HAHAHA! just kidding H-town... I got ♥ for ya!

Dallas is "harder" to get into just because there are not that many BSN options in that area. Houston has more options so there are not as many people with all of their options in one basket. TWU focuses on the grades you made during your 1st attempt in classes like Anatomy & Physiology, Micro, Stats... I personally believe they pay more attention to your TEAS score and 1st attempt grades in those "key" courses. Don't focus on others GPAs because I have seen a wide range from those accepted. DON'T LET WHAT YOU HEAR FROM OTHERS DISCOURAGE YOU!!! Apply to all of the schools you are interested in and stay positive.
If I had to choose between retaking courses or focusing on the TEAS, I would focus on the TEAS test.
Hope this helps :)
I am new to this forum. I just got my Teas V score 3 days ago and it was just right on passing. (64.7%) I still did apply to TWU nursing program for both weekend and traditional program. My GPA for all prereq is 3.72 plus a .4 bump. I' m a second degree student and my core classes is good i think: B for A&P1 and A for A&P2, A for Micro, and A for Stat. all in first attempt. I am just so down with my TEAS score. Just got so nervous on the day of the test. Can you pls let me know what you score you got on TEAS V. Thanks!
i think you will be fine because you have such a good gpa and high first time scores
hey guys! i have a 3.2, yikes! :sofahider, and after this summer it should come up to a 3.6 or 7 and i am studying my butt off for the teas and will only have 3 more classes after that to take. i have goten into the university as the first step, but i am so worried about getting into the nursing program, fingers crossed

I have loved nursing school so far! It has its positives and negatives. What is so difficult is how much material is smashed into one tiny semester. Some of the material is academically difficult, while some of it is not. Cumulative finals add a lot of stress to the semester. Also, nursing exams are not like the exams that you have been taking in your pre-requisites. Take a look at a HESI/NCLEX book to start getting yourself prepared for the style of the questions. You will be working harder to stay in nursing school than you did getting into it! But all of the studying is so worth it when you've made the difference for a patient.
I did not have too difficult of a time juggling everything until this semester. We have lecture on Monday mornings and Tuesdays all day; and then I have clinical Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It makes it kind of difficult to have time to study - let alone rest. But, the first two semesters were not so bad in comparison. Like anything, being in nursing school takes some getting used to. If it is truly your passion, then you will love it!
Good luck!
