Hello Everyone,
Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!
Lets Get It Started!!!

Hey Soon2bRN!
I'm glad you created this thread! Are you applying to the Dallas or Houston campus? As far as myself, I am applying to both. But I hope to get into the Dallas campus since I live here. Have you taken the TEAS yet? I am going to start studying as soon as I receive the study guide. Good luck!
Hi Misshopeful,
I am happy to see someone else ready to take this ride with me. lol I am applying to both Houston, Dallas and Midwestern State. I am hoping to get into Dallas because I am living in Denton. I havent taken the TEAS yet. I was actually online today trying to see when the testing dates were this summer. I didnt have any luck. I was thinkin of taking it in July. I currently have the HESI study guide but will be buying the TEAS study guide soon. I am really nervous about the test. Have you heard if the test is hard?
I have the Hesi study guide too, I've been researching online and it seems like the TEAS V version is harder then the 3.0 or 4.0 version. TWU wants us take the V version of course lol I know we need to make a min score of 64 to even have our application looked at. I'm sure we are going to have higher then a 64 and a great GPA to assure our spot. I've heard that the science section is pretty hard to study for. Check out this link.....Teas Study Skills Sticky - DO NOT POST TEST QUESTIONS - Nursing for Nurses
This is where I've been getting most of my information for the TEAS. I am also going to apply to UT Houston.
I think I'm going to take the exam in July too, are you taking in summer classes?
Thanks for the link! Lots of great information. So where do we find the study guide for V version because when I went online I just saw the study guide for 3.0/4.0 version?
I am taking summer classes. I made three Cs out of my core and pre-reqs so I thought if I repeated those courses I could boost my gpa. What about you?
Here is the link to the study guide its 38.95 from the actual TEAS website

But here is the same study guide from Barnes & nobles for 22.77
Study Manual for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Version V, Assessment Technologies Institute, Book - Barnes & Noble
I have 2 Bs....one in Micro and the other in Stats. I am redoing micro this summer for an "A" and I will be taking nutrition online and dev psych. I refuse to redo Stats...I hated that class lol
Did you take all of your pre reqs at TWU? Oh yeah, and I am planning on taking Patho this fall at TWU to get that class out of the way. I heard the class is pretty intense!
Thanks! I am happy to see I can get the book for much cheaper : ) I did take all my pre reqs at TWU. I am taking Dev. Psych online too this summer. I will also be taking Quant. Lit. and A&P II. I was thinking about taking Patho this fall but I am thinking maybe not. Only because I am applying to Midwestern State and they dont accept Patho from any other school. I would hate to take the course and not get accepted into TWU but get accepted to Midwestern and have to take it over. Instead I am picking up a minor in Health Studies. Did you take all your courses at TWU?
I'm taking Quant lit & patho this fall, and thats all I have left to take :) So hopefully I get into to TWU or UT Houston. and no I didnt take any courses at TWU I took mine at DCCCD & TCC. You're lucky you get that .4 bump!
I was at the community college until I found out about the bump for TWU students ,so I decided to come over to TWU right in time. But your grades are really good. So I am sure that you will be fine without the bump and you saved lots of money : )

Hello,
I'm so happy to have found this website. I love how relevant it is. I am applying for Spring 2011 as well. I am taking Micro, A&P II and a women's studies class this summer (is that crazy?)...and in the Fall I will take Patho, a fine arts, Quant Lit, and the Computer class. My question is...when should I take the TEAS? Should I wait till I finish my summer classes? I haven't looked at dates for the test yet, so maybe that will make my decision for me.

Hello everyone. I thought that since this website helped me so much when I was applying, that I would give back to those going through the process. I just got accepted to the Fall 2010 class at Houston:yeah::yeah: and I wanted to give some advise.
#1 Take your shots NOW!!! It is better to be ahead of the game then to have to scramble at the last minute.
#2 Keep up with all of the deadlines. Apply to TWU ASAP and make sure that all of your transcripts were ACTUALLY received. Call the registrar to verify everything.
#3 NEVER EVER EVER downgrade all of the hard work you have done thusfar. If you don't have a 3.99...who cares!!! There were many that had excellent GPAs that were not accepted. I truly believe that TWU is more concerned with your entrance exam grades and your 1st attempt grades in Stats, Micro, and the A&Ps. When I applied we had to take the HESI A2, but I also took the TEAS for UTMB. The science portion on the TEAS is harder, but overall you will do just fine. If you have not taken any classes with TWU and will not receive the .4 bump in your GPA...don't feel discouraged; neither did I.
Most of all check your TWU email EVERY SINGLE DAY. If they email you a question about your application, you have 5 days to respond or your application will be trashed. I don't mean to scare anyone but...
If you have any questions that you think I might be able to answer...just send me a message.
Good Luck!!!!
Thank you very much missmoe27!!! Good luck on your journey through nursing school :)
