TWU Applicants Spring 2011

Published

Hello Everyone,

Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!

Lets Get It Started!!!

When we started we had 115, but that included RN's that were getting their BSN's. I am not sure how many we have in our class right now...maybe 90 something.

The school is fantastic! The support group here is amazing and the teachers are fantastic!!! You made a good choice.

Dolson, am I interpreting this correctly, your class has had 25 drop out already?

Any news on late emails of acceptance? My friends that have not been accepted are worried!

Hi Matter,

I haven't heard anything about anymore emails being sent out. But I'm sure after Oct 29th they're going to open more spots, since some ppl were accepted at Houston & Dallas. Also, I was reading through the UT Houston thread & they haven't received anything from UT about being accepted....so some applicants are going to accept at TWU since the deadline to accept is this Friday & if they get into UT then they will decline at TWU.

By any chance do you know how they did on the TEAS & what GPA do they have?

Hey Misshopeful,

Both were above the 88th percentile (Score was like 79) on the TEAS and had decent GPAs. One is a TWU student so she should have received the 0.4 bump in GPA which would have put her near a 4.0. She had a science GPA around 3.5. The other is a second degree student that has an undergrad in Biology. Not sure what her GPA is but I assume it is the mid to high 3s. I sure wish TWU would provide their formula or their philosophy on selecting candidates. From what I have heard, it is all about the science GPA then your overall GPA and the TEAS doesn't matter as long as you do decent on it.

So are you saying these people go in or didn't get in? Just curious because my scores are about the same as the first one mentioned and I have been checking my mail and email like a maniac!

Thanks!

@ matter

Oh wow, I would've thought they would have got in. My Teas score was lower than a 79.

But I remember reading last Falls threads & one person had a 3.94 (3.5 without .4 bump) & a 88 hesi score and they didn't get in. Later he or she said it was because of their first attempts in science classes. I'm not sure if that is the case with your friends though.

Tell them to keep checking their email bc they still have a chance & let us know if they get in!

Maybe we should post our stats to help future applicants, bc I know we were all going nuts bc we had no one to compare our stats to since this was the first time they implemented the TEAS V.

Teas V score: 70

GPA: 3.72 I thought I had a 3.8 but turns out the govt class I retook ( I made a C the first time) was the govt class I made an A in. Which means I retook the same govt class twice for an A. The course number from Dallas County & TCC are different and it confused me.

I made A's on two out of the four first attempt classes that they take into consideration.

Oh & my friend got into Dallas & she had a 3.7 & her Teas was a 78. She also made all A's on the first attempt classes.

merandmalmom - These individuals have not received an acceptance/regret as of yet.

misshopeful - I confirmed with my one friend. She has only retaken Chemistry but due to transferring in of C (not due to drop). She has great personality and is liked by many of the professors.

I believe Dolsen was saying that the 115 students included some that weren't actually in the traditional program. I believe our class (admission Fall 2010) had 94 or 96 students. Since then there have been about 3 people leave. I am aware of one person that left because they realized that nursing was not for them. Hopefully we can all pull through to graduation :)

TWU-Houston is awesome, and the support that we get from each other and the faculty is more than I expected. Nothing worth obtaining is easy and it takes hard work.

:D

Thanks Matter!

My scores are a little better but not much. I seriously can't stand this waiting. It's making me crazy. I keep telling myself it's because my last name is at the end of the alphabet! :o

I had a 3.84 GPA (4.24 after the bump) and scored an 86 on the TEAS V (totally BOMBED the scientific reasoning and informational source comprehension sections, lol).

Teas V: 73

GPA: 3.8 (4.2 with bump)

2 A's and 2 B's of the four classes they check first attempt in
