  1. Perhaps while you are holding out for your dream job, you could get a non-healthcare related job in the meantime. Then you can gain the skills and a better perspective on just how transferable some of that experience can actually be to nursing! Besides, if you're going to keep turning down new-grad opportunities (that numerous others would kill for might I add), you're going to need that "unrelated" experience when you become an old-new grad and interviewers are asking about the big gap on your resume following nursing school.
  2. Try this article: https://allnurses.com/nursing-job-search/i-got-job-532817.html It gives you tips on how to become more aggressive in your job hunt, since it seems most of our applications are stuck somewhere in HR online limbo.
  3. Thanks for the heads up! Under nursing jobs there is a section for graduate nurse.
  4. Got an email for L&D too! I also applied to NICU but haven't heard anything.
  5. Had the panel interview for my dream job at HEB. I felt it went well but apparently not enough as I didn't get it. I'm a bit heartbroken. Back to square one...
  6. Has anyone heard when Medical City and the other HCA hospitals will post?
  7. I am trying to do the same by obtaining certifications while the so far unsuccessful job search continues. Where were you able to do your NRP skills test and AWHONN fetal monitoring? The only information I can find is through hospitals but for employees only.
  8. Not a thing. So far only Ft. Worth and HEB.
  9. Thanks jennyshambles and good luck to you formack! I had my panel interview today. I think I talked too fast, which I do when I'm nervous, but otherwise I feel like I had a pretty decent answer to all the questions they asked. The waiting game continues!
  10. Yes. It's rough, but at least this time around I have nothing better to do than apply and interview all day! I missed a lot of opportunities that last semester with class and clinical commitments.
  11. Congrats jennyshambles! I have a panel interview next week. Were the questions similar to the 1-on-1 interview or more behavioral style?
  12. Most of mine changed to "forwarded to hiring manager" last week, and one went to "interview to be scheduled." Haven't heard anything from them yet this week though.
  13. Yes, I applied to several OB related positions on March 5 as well and received the online assessment last night. Most of my submission status are still at "application received" but I also have 2 that say "application in review," and 1 that says "forwarded to hiring manager." Keeping my fingers and toes crossed! I graduated in December, passed NCLEX, and now it's just the waiting game for a job.
  14. I'm helping out with orientation next week - I hope you're all excited and I look forward to seeing you Friday!
  15. I'm getting the elective out of the way. I've heard S1 is incredibly tough with 3 clinicals (especially Adult II) so I didn't want to add anything on top of that. Plus the electives change every semester, and I wasn't sure another one that interested me would be available so I'm going to go ahead and get it over with, lol. Last time the book package included e-book versions of some of them. But I knew I would never use them so it wasn't really a bonus for me. A lot of what you buy isn't books anyway, it's online codes to access case studies, drug calculations and videos. Also, you really don't need the pharm book. Everyone told me not to buy it but I just knew at some point I'd need it so I did. Yeah, you really don't. But basically I didn't buy the package because I just didn't have the money at the time. No one told us how expensive books would be, I was only estimating about half of that. After doing some major online shopping from (mostly) Amazon and a few book stores, my total came just short of $1,000 so I'm glad I did it. However, if you do decide to buy them on your own make sure you get the book list for the package anyway. Because the ISBNs and book titles they gave us for each individual class were WRONG WRONG WRONG. So many people bought the incorrect books because they followed the instructors sheets, which hadn't been updated. The book list for the package is correct.
