I am an LPN. I hold a GA license but last year I moved to Idaho and applied for an Idaho LPN license by endorsement. I started this process in February. Georgia mailed my stuff to the wrong address (repeatedly for 2 months - why look at mailing address, right?) My fingerprints got rejected as unreadable twice, FBI lost my background check, Idaho board of nursing refused to communicate with them to look into it..etc...so yesterday after 8 months I got my license...i got promoted! THEY ISSUED ME AN RN license!! I thought that maybe there was another person with my name and it was all just a misunderstanding but today I received the actual printed RN license (with an LPN flyer about scope of practice) in the mail.
nursys also shows me as an RN. I called Idaho Board of Nursing but the licensed clerk is on sick leave. I don't know what to do. I can't legally practice on RN license but by issuing that license my temporary LPN license got cancelled. What to do now? This level of incompetence is mind boggling. I'm considering writing a formal complaint but that will not solve my situation today.
Any ideas how to proceed?

Certified letters to the BoN, the supervising agency (in my state it's the Division of Consumer Affairs), Health Department and the governor of ID. Perhaps copies to the ANA and state nurses association. You are honest and won't attempt to practice with an erroneously issued license, however not everyone has scruples and this can cause big problems when something bad happens to a patient...
I called. The endorsement clerk is sick and the only person there is the customer service rep who cannot do anything about it. I just finished writing an email to the executive director demanding immediate correction. Thank you for suggesting other agencies to take this to which I will do if the Idaho BON doesn't rectify this situation by tomorrow.
I'm so furious.
Honestly, I wouldn't wait until tomorrow. Print the email and send it by US mail. Email only goes so far. I would "CC" the state nursing association, ANA, et al.
Stick with facts not emotion to be more effective. Application for a practical nursing license by endorsement sent on XXX. Interim permit to practice as an LPN issued on XX, rescinded on XX due to license issue. RN license issued on X. etc. Called on XXX at CC told "endorsement girl is sick" customer service rep unable to address this serious error.

Are you anywhere near Boise so that you can go in person?
I would send an email and carbon copy it to every member of the Board Staff.

Everyone has a boss! The endorsement clerk being sick doesn't mean his or her boss can't fix the problem. The squeaky wheel...
Nope, I'm not near Boise...I'm in a tiny mountain town that's pretty isolated.
The clerk is back today and she is fixing it..On the phone she was like..ok, no big deal but I think it is a big deal. Something like this makes me question the entire licensing system (not to mention it took 8 months to get the license because she was unwilling to do her job).
Oh..and no response from the executive director. I printed out all the info from NURSYS and Idaho BoN, made a copy of the physical license they mailed me as well and now I'm going to start making waves.

Send a copy to the Attorney General's office "just to make certain that all are aware in the case that someone else attempts to commit fraud". Perhaps a little leak to the media might be in order too. Small payback for taking eight months to do something incorrectly that should have been done in less than eight weeks.

Wait until you have the correct license in your hot little hands, THEN notify the proper upper echelon parties about the debacle you've endured. A MAJOR system failure/error occurred and it needs to be fixed so as NOT to be repeated. If it happened to you, it could happen to someone else (and it probably has), someone who may not be as conscientious and responsibly honest as you.
In NJ, our BON answers up to the Division of Consumer Affairs (they do all the licensing Boards). Also alerting a politician (a healthcare-friendly advocate) might be a nice touch. BUT ... be polite and nice. Don't go on a rage altho you have grounds. You don't want to make enemies of your Board!.
Congrats on being persistent and keeping a clear head.
So when I called about five hours ago I was told that they would mail the new license on Monday and I would see the change online within two hours. Well, it's been it's been several hours and I don't see anything. It did not get done. I have no choice but wait to see if it's changed on Monday. Meanwhile I can say goodbye to the job I interviewed for because I have no valid license.

-hi sorry to be off topic but I am a Ga lpn that recently relocated to IL. I was wondering who/where you mailed the Ga CT-NUR (verification of licensing agency/board) form to and if there were any additional fees. how long did they take? I read that the board mistakenly mailed the form to the wrong location. Im wondering if i should provide a postmarked envelope.
thanks for your help.
