Greetings!
So this is the story:
I went off to a four year university after I graduated high school in 2009. In the summer of 2010 I went back home and decided to take some summer classes at my local community college, I turned in my official college transcripts from the university to the community college at that time.I ended up dropping out of those classes that summer so I didn't earn any credit. Fall 2010 came and I returned to the four year university, however I decided to leave the university after that semester. I had dropped most of my classes and had only earned 3 credits for a speech class I had taken. I came home and attended a technical school for medical assisting which I graduated from in Oct of 2011 and then started working Jan of 2012. I started back taking classes at the same community college that summer semester and have been taking classes and doing very well, I currently have a 3.5 GPA.
My dilemma:
I am finishing up my pre reqs for the ADN program at the community colllege. One of the requirements to apply is that all of my transcripts have been turned into the college. I am not able to get my transcript from the four year university because they are on hold until I pay them $800. (My parents were supposed to pay this for me after I had left the school, but they never did.) I don't know how I am going to come up with all the money before this August (when I plan to apply to the program). I am thinking about applying to the program without sending in my transcript, the school already has my transcripts that I had turned in before and that speech class I took isn't required for the ADN program. I won't be using financial aid (hopefully) so there isn't really any way they are going to see I was at the four year university for a semester that they don't have transcripts for.
I don't know if I should risk it or not lol
So what do you guys think?

My parents offered to pay it because the original charge the school made was not my fault. The day that I left the school my RA was already on vacation and I had to turn my dorm/apartment keys into the main RA office, well my mother was in a hurry because she had to get back to our hometown in time enough to go to a meeting. When we finished packing up my room we went to the office and everyone had gone to lunch, my mom didn't want to wait around so she told me that we would have to turn it in another time. We got outside to the car and mom had parked in the wrong spot and we were given a ticket. A few months later we receive a letter from the school stating that we owe them $450. For a parking ticket, and because we didn't turn in the key they charged me for 2 months of rent. I was upset because I had just got out of school and they were already asking me for money. I was 19 and jobless and already upset because I had to dropout, my mother told me not to worry about the bill, that her and my dad would take care of it.
So no, I have never EXPECTED anyone to pay for anything for me I have paid for all of my schooling out of pocket since I left university. I am just blessed enough to have parents who want to help their daughter better herself. They love me.
Thanks for your post
While I value your opinion. It's just that. Unless you're on the admissions board you don't know what will happen.
Just anecdotal, but I told my nursing school I might take a few classes between applying and being accepted. They already had official transcripts from the school, but required brand new ones before I was officially accepted to prove I hadn't taken anymore classes and gotten grades that would have affected their decision. I told them I didn't take any classes and they still required a new official transcript to prove it.
OP might end up in a situation like that and better be prepared to pony up the $800 at some point in the near future.

From what she's provided it doesn't seem like the college knows that other transcripts exist. You guys may be right, they may just toss her app to the side and move on to the others. However trying will not hurt. It's worth a try if the $800 is a burden to her.

Exactly! I feel like they won't ask for transcripts that they don't know about. I honestly don't feel like I am lying because the only course they don't know I took was speech and it isn't a requirement for the nursing program and I got an A in the course so if anything, it would actually count towards my application by boosting my GPA. Its like my heart and my brain are at war lol my heart is like: you have worked so hard to get here, don't let anything hold you back! my brain is like: what if they find out? what if they don't find out right away, but they find out after you have been in the program for a year? you should pay it first, even if you have to wait another year or even a couple of years to apply. ugh My family and friends are telling me to go for it, but the scary cat in me is obsessing about doing it. plus I am kinda on a time limit because I took my Chemistry class back in 2012 and if I wait until after Spring 2017 to apply I have to take that class again to be eligible, which would be horrible
Thanks for understanding my situation, You helped me feel like this isn't THAT crazy of an idea :)
Some colleges (not many) but there are some, especially community colleges that don't require every transcript.
That being said, look on the application and see what it says, does it say to supply all transcripts? Is there a blurb about not withholding transcripts?
If so, you have to supply them all because it can show up on financial aid records or if its a large enough school it could be on the National Student Clearinghouse.
Also, you absolutely have to put all colleges down when applying for your license because that is definitely fraud if you do not.
The fact is that it may not come up any which way but do you want the stress of carrying this secret?
It is best to be honest and explain the situation. You may have an admissions counselor that won't see this as an issue.
Recently I met with an adviser at a local CC regarding their ADN program. I submitted my transcripts from the college I received a BFA from and two other CC's where I took a handful of classes after. During the meeting she asked if I had turned in a transcript from XXX CC. I forgot that I had taken one class there during my freshman year summer break. This one class was not relevant to the program. She told me that my application would be thrown out and I would be ineligible for the year if I was missing even one transcript. I am not sure how she knew about this one college. Possibly a SS# check?
I was unable to continue the application process because one of my schools refused to send the transcripts that I had paid for. Not a single course on those transcripts was even necessary to the process and I explained and explained and explained, but nobody would hear what I had to say. If making an $800 payment were only the problem for me!
