can someone here help me.. lend me some of their notes and cd's i would really appraciate it! thanks!

Where are you located? Just follow Suzanne's plan, it really works. If you study NCLEX Saunder's, it's very very helpful. Just practice lots of questions.

Please read the sticky at the top of the NCLEX forum regarding Suzanne's plan. It has not been available on AN for more than a year. People can devise their own study plan easily by doing one chapter a day, or every three days, whatever works for their schedule.

Hi everyone, I cannot find the infection mnemonics? Please help!

I just passed that bugger on 2/9/11! I studied for two months after graduating in Dec. 2010. It took me 146 questions. The best study aid I had was Saunders NCLEX Comprehensive Review. I did not read the book cover to cover, but the CD that came with the book was fabulous. You can study many different and/or specific areas in the format of questions, with reasoning accompanying each answer. If you do quick quizzes of 10 questions each and consistently perform poorly, you know which areas you are weak in. Remember, IT IS JUST AS IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO ELIMINATE WRONG ANSWERS. This greatly improves your chances by gaining familiarity in each arena.

Also, know that the questions on the NCLEX are NEVER trick questions. Pay attention to every detail given. Every detail is pertinent in choosing the correct answer. There will, however, be "trick" answers, if you will. If you are given a question that mentions cardiovascular and lung inconsistencies, choose the answer that reflects both, not just one!

GOOD LUCK STUDENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Signed up for HURST REVIEW. Beats any 3" study book out there. You can take the review course live or online. Passed Friday with PVT also. Hurst will teach you core content as well as test taking strategies. You really want to practice SATA questions. If you are in the higher lever questions on the exam - you are gonna see alot of these as well as pt priority questions. Take it from a person who took this test 6 times and passed on 7.

Anyone have advice for studying for the NCLEX EXAM in 2011? Please send information to ([email protected]).

I took my nclex PN but I am sure studying is the same for both PN and RN. I graduated end of Jan 2011, took a break from any and all studying materials until I got my ATT form and scheduled my test. I had 2 weeks to prepare and I only studied maybe about 5 hrs total. I think because of all the studying and reviewing I did during school it truly prepared me. I passed at 85 questions (minimum for PN test) and thought it was so difficult and nothing like I had thought it would be. But I kept my fingers crossed and did fine! Don't stress out too much about it or it just makes things worse! Just be confident in yourself and you will succeed!

Hi everyone,

I'm a canadian RN writing the NCLEX in two weeks. I have written it once already and attempting it a second time. I have been using Saunder's comprehensive book to study as recommended by many of you on here (although it is a 3rd ed.) I have been doing alot of questions.. I even have the saunders question and answer 4th ed cd and 4th ed saunders comprehsive cd. I am hoping this will be enough for me to pass the exam this time around. I have been studying hard and praying really hard to pass. I am just worried that the exam will screw me over again. I kinda know what to expect..but I fear that the questions i am doing in the saunders book is nothing like the real exam. I am wondering what I can use to practice more questions that are similar to the NCLEX??? Any suggestions???

Also, for the infection control mneumontic notes, I am a little confused. I know "my chicken hez TB", SPIDERMAN, VCHIPS. However, my confusion arises when the notes say you put the client in a private room or cohort and wear a mask. Take chickenpox for example. If chickenpox is airborne and we wear a mask, should we not wear a gown and gloves? In a hospital setting I would.. so that is why I am confused. If i wear to get a question on the NCLEX that gave me the option of ONLY MASK and another option said MASK, GLOVES, GOWN, which one would you pick? HELP PLZZ

NEED CLARIFICATION!!

Thanks

Hi nicu06! I wrote my NCLEX in Toronto a few years ago but failed. Will try it second time around like you. I'm also using Saunders but 5th edition. Wish you all the best!

CanadianNCLEX,

I am doing the NCSBN 3 week course online to see if that helps.. I am doing well on the Saunder's tests but the NCLEX is so hard, you never know what will happen! Best of luck to you too!

I just looked it up. Never heard of the NCSBN before. I had taken the Kaplan in-class course 3 times before attempting the NCLEX and failing. Are you also doing your NCLEX in Toronto? Do you recommend the NCSBN online course? I was going to try a tutor but she charges $1000 for 16 wks. NCSBN sounds a lot cheaper.
