TIPS/Info for passing NCLEX

Published

Hi,

To everyone who passed recent nclex-rn, can you please share what helped you best (cd's, printed materials, etc..) ? Where to focus? and how did you study/prepare?

thanks... this will help a lot of us who are scheduled to take the exams soon

hi, i'm kinda new here. Well, i just took my nclex rn exam this month and i failed. I also did suzannes 1st tip in studying but still i didn't make it. I will try to take it again next year. But i can't seem to concentrate especially if there are too many pressures. Some people keeps on telling me what to do, at first it was fine with me. But as time goes by i dont think i like the pressure. I'm losing my self confidence and i feel so stupid. They might not consider how i feel but honestly, i feel degraded everytime these people tells me what to do. Honestly, i cannot study the whole day including the nights everyday for months. I need a break. I want to balance everything. I really am losing confidence on myself. But since may people are telling me what to do, i do not have a choice but to listen to them. Sometimes, i'm just losing hope. Anyway, thanks for listening.

:idea:shrix00, well i'm kinda in that disposition of what you're in lately especially that i just passed the recent controversial board exam. I have been like this for 4 months like i'm an "empty-headed walkathon". i'm supposed to read saunders but to no avail i have only read few pages. well, i'm still on a process of working this on myself considering that i'm kinda OC and perfectionist myself but i suggest you take a very good break and it's about time you cling on yourself and please yourself first and not mind others coz if you will continue to do just like what i have been doing... you will either likely fail or you may not fail but still bring this feeling over and over in different circumstances and you will realize that you actually have stagnated personally while others do not care at all. Take a break. By best wishes to you and happy holidays!

Is true that NCSBN is only a good review for nclex-RN's? any LVN's who took this course?

I just graduated in December. One of my professors instructed us clear back in the junior semesters to take at least 3000 practice questions. The cramming that was done for the class before us, something must have worked because all 15 of them passed the 1st time. I'm just using the CDs that came with my review books, and doing no more than 100 questions a day. I may not get to the whole 3000, but I figure if I can get the majority of the review questions correct that I do practice, I have at least a 50/50 shot for passing boards.

understanding what the questions are asking you is the key. when you are doing practice questions, make sure you understand why the answer is right or wrong. all the best to you.

...hello shrix00.. i also been on the same situation like you... i took the exam last november and i failed... so many people rely on you.. so many things I have done but i feel that all of those efforts are all in vain... many people are disappointed of the result.... *sigh* i just wish this is not happening... i often sleep a lot during the day and thinking not to wake up again... so depressing... i am planning to take the exam next year and have my ATT this month... i am losing confidence and don't know what to do... where to start... im confused up to this now... and problems are rising in the family... *sigh* well... in life.. you've got to move forward... i feel like you did shrix00 but all i can say is... take a deep breath and MOVE FORWARD in life... (that's how i go through all of this)

hi! i need help in choosing a review center for my nclex review..i'm planning on taking the exams in april..which is better? kaplan or gapuz? thanks...

Hi i sat the nclex last week. I used Kaplan study book with C.D. I found the first chapters about how to pass the exam very useful (more than one way to skin the cat!!) In retrospect that is what helped me i.e using elimination and raising your chances of getting more questions right, knowing lab values and common drugs was also helpful. Suzanne on this site has a tried and tested study programme , i ended up rushing to do my nclex at the end and didnt have enough time to follow it. I also took books out the library, Saunders and princeton the C.Ds were lost but i just used the practise questions, both of them were helpful too. Thats my tuppence worth!

Hi!

i have been reading all the tips/advices and shared experiences posted here and i just want to let you all know that it helps me focus on my decision to take up NCLEX. I will start my review a week from now and yes, KAPLAN is the review center i have chosen due to lots of positive feedbacks.

I guess this is it for me now..pass the NCLEX only once, then get clinical experience and specialize clinical fields i get interested in to farther enhance my nursing profession. As the saying goes.."strike hard while the iron is hot!" and if you fellow nurses can do it, so can I!

Thank you.:nurse:

just study for 12 hrs aday..pray,concentrate and read ur review materials 2 or 3 times.but dont memorize just understand...

Hi,

I am new to this forum, and right now I am so stressed about taking the NCLEX. I am scheduled for the 17th. I am using Kaplan and I am only averaging about 61% on their questions. I know they say the goal is 65%, but I have yet to get there. Any advice????
