I'm wanting to prepare for the HESI exam asap. No bookstore in Austin has a studyguide available. They all seem to have the N-CLEX. Are the materials similar or do they cover entirely different materials?? Does anyone know of a resourceful website with information on where I can purchase an informative studyguide for the HESI?? Thanks

hi, i'm kinda new here. Well, i just took my nclex rn exam this month and i failed. I also did suzannes 1st tip in studying but still i didn't make it. I will try to take it again next year. But i can't seem to concentrate especially if there are too many pressures. Some people keeps on telling me what to do, at first it was fine with me. But as time goes by i dont think i like the pressure. I'm losing my self confidence and i feel so stupid. They might not consider how i feel but honestly, i feel degraded everytime these people tells me what to do. Honestly, i cannot study the whole day including the nights everyday for months. I need a break. I want to balance everything. I really am losing confidence on myself. But since may people are telling me what to do, i do not have a choice but to listen to them. Sometimes, i'm just losing hope. Anyway, thanks for listening.

hello shrix, dont lose hope. I am taking my exams next year and like you, so many people are telling me what to do, but I try not to pay too much attention to them and just focus on studying. I'll start with suzanne's first tip and then pm her for the rest of her program. Cheer up..

shrix00... don't overexert yourself in studying. You will just be sick and tired of studying after a while. Try to relax and pm Suzanne for the rest of her tip. Her way of studying for the exam is not very pressured.

I also did not study for the entire day. I would find myself thinking the day before of doing it but on the actual day, spend only an hour or two of studying or even less. Hehehe... I find that it helps you retain more information in your head for long term use. Cramming 1000 questions a day would only help your short term memory and that would not be good for the nclex.

Hope everythings allright... I'm still crossing my fingers for my results. Hehehe...

Read all different books on NCLEX study and do as many practice tests as you can on your computer. Dont stick to just one publisher or author. I found that if you do plenty of practice exams of all different kinds it will set you up to understand the NCLEX and the style of question and how they want them answered. This helped me heaps. I also found that of the tons of stuff i studied that i used hardly any of it on the actual exam as most of my questions were priority questions. But as every exam is different, you need to study EVERYTHING! And practice practice practice! and time yourself:)

in addition to my last reply: Start studying well before the exam day. Like a few months. Set yourself study time AND play time. Long term study is best for long term memory And regularly reinforce what you have read by doing prac tests on it. Dont over do it the day before and dont even look at the books on the day of the exam. If you have studied well beforehand then you will recall what you have learned when you do the exam. Relax before it and picture yourself succeeding:)

:idea:shrix00, well i'm kinda in that disposition of what you're in lately especially that i just passed the recent controversial board exam. I have been like this for 4 months like i'm an "empty-headed walkathon". i'm supposed to read saunders but to no avail i have only read few pages. well, i'm still on a process of working this on myself considering that i'm kinda OC and perfectionist myself but i suggest you take a very good break and it's about time you cling on yourself and please yourself first and not mind others coz if you will continue to do just like what i have been doing... you will either likely fail or you may not fail but still bring this feeling over and over in different circumstances and you will realize that you actually have stagnated personally while others do not care at all. Take a break. By best wishes to you and happy holidays!
