QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Corrupt liar like any politician, no clinical evidence of mental illness or cognitive decline. Propaganda is fun.
Remember how you valiantly denied Biden's cognitive decline while demanding evidence? Millions of people saw it in real time, that wasn't enough to convince you, so I reject your non professional diagnosis and soeculation based on your own standards .Regarding Trump's mental and cognitive status.
Oh yeah. I also noticed that you couldn't tell us how you seperate Trump's lies about Covid from Trump Covid policy. I'm guessing that's because it was just meaningless rhetoric about some imagined Trump policy that is a good cover for ignoring Trump's lies, corruption and incompetence while he was president.

The poster said policies and didn't mention covid. This is what a lot of Republicans like about Trump...yeah he lies but he did our bidding when he cut taxes, especially to the wealthy...yeah he lies but he had a tough border policy....yeah he lies but he had a good economy....yeah he lies but he's against abortion...yeah he lies but now we can say Merry Christmas...that kind of thing.
Every President has failures. Biden's border situation and the withdrawal from Afghanistan were disasters, and Harris was there. Harris is Biden, Jr. and can't out run that, and she shouldn't as Biden overall had a good Presidency, and we have to live with their failures while supporting her.
I guess we also have to live with the idea that she giggles that she smoked pot once, as if that's worse that committing adultery, being a felon and undermining democracy. But okay....

Correct. I mentioned covid policy for obvious reasons. She simply made a general statement that I'm challenging her to support with facts or evidence and meaningful discussion.
Unfortunately for Trump, very few presidents have experienced more failure than Trump in a single term. That's why he's ranked in the bottom handful of men who served in that capacity.

Narrowing it down to an obvious failure would be like asking for facts and evidence that Biden's Afghanistan withdrawal was a success. It was because we got out but the execution was a failure.
It would be more of a meaningful discussion if you left it open.
The poster can very easily come up with facts and evidence of Trump's successes. but you won't let her because you want to only talk about covid which isn't defendable other than the vaccine .
We've discussed with many a person what are considered Trump's successes while he was in office. Obviously as a centrist to the left I don't like hardly any of them, just like people don't like what I consider Biden's successful presidency.

I've tried open questions. They are also largely avoided or ignored.
Can she actually separate Trump's lies from his policy as she contended? She cannot with covid, she cannot with immigration, she cannot with the economy, and she cannot with foreign policy. Trump's policy is built upon lies and dishonesty.
An interesting article fact checking some of trump's claims made during is convention speech:
QuoteFor more than 90 minutes last week, Donald Trump gave a rambling speech accepting the Republican nomination for president for a third time. He used the opportunity, as well as his June debate with President Biden, to repeat favorite false claims and exaggerations. That Mr. Trump has a proclivity for saying untrue things is well known. But in his latest campaign for the White House, I've been struck by what appears to be an escalation in both the frequency of Mr. Trump's lies and the outrageousness of his distortions.

Our exit from Afghanastan would have been different if Trump had not given our pull put dates to the Taliban. Biden followed Trump's plan and that was his mistake. Harris isn't Biden Jr. I wish she were but she is probably more progressive at a time when we really need a moderate running. I'll give it to you on the border. However, Harris has raised millions of dollars to seed businesses in Guatemala which we should have done decades ago and Trump failed miserably to do. I await to see who she will pick for her running mate. I had two emails yesterday offering me free Trump t-shirts. He is scared. It will be an exciting election...but exhausting.
Tweety said:But doesn't that go against the idea that Democrats and the institutions of justice are aggressively going after Trump to keep him from becoming President? They knew he was a one-term President with the idea that he could run again.
As I've discussed before people surrounding Trump like Cohen, Bannon, Navarro, Manafort, Papadopoulos, Stone,Weisselberg have served or ordered to serve jail time for crimes and contempt. Not to mention those rotting in jail for long periods for participating in the January 6th events.
Seems like the "aggressive witch hunt" of Trump and his allies is relatively successful. Doesn't really matter though, he still might become President again. Who knows what's in store for his next set of allies, maybe he's chosen more wisely this time.
Trump can't pick wisely....he possesses not one iota of wisdom. He has no idea how uninformed he is because if a singular lack of curiosity.

NORAD intercepts Russian and Chinese bombers operating together near Alaska in apparent first
Quote
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted two Russian and two Chinese bombers flying near Alaska Wednesday in what appears to be the first time the two countries have been intercepted while operating together...
...Russian flights into Alaska's ADIZ are not uncommon. In May, Russia flew four aircraft into Alaska's ADIZ, which NORAD said at the time "occurs regularly.”
But the presence of Chinese aircraft appears to be a new development. In March, the head of US Northern Command, Gen. Gregory Guillot, said China was pushing farther north into the Arctic and he expected to see aircraft there "as soon as this year potentially.”
"What I have seen is a willingness and a desire by the Chinese to act up there,” Guillot told a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee. "We have seen them in the maritime. We have seen them under the cloud of a technical or scientific research, but we think it is certainly multi-mission, to include military. And then I expect to see air activity in the Alaska part of the Arctic as soon as this year, potentially.”..

Quote"This legislation prioritizes critical needs and addresses specific interests and concerns brought to our attention through more than 8,800 Member requests,” he said, while also noting that the bill "takes critical steps to reduce regulatory burdens imposed by the EPA and promote domestic energy production.”
He also defended the bill as a measure that "permanently fixes wildland firefighter pay, helps manage our public lands wisely, upholds our commitments to Indian country, and restores the fiscal responsibility necessary to get our economy back on track.”
The bill's funding levels called for an overall decrease compared to current spending levels, with a GOP summary outlining a 20 percent cut to EPA funding, cuts upwards of 8 percent for the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, while also eliminating funding for the Presidio Trust and slashing dollars for the Council on Environmental Quality.
Didn't the SCOTUS just rule that the lawmakers and judges would decide what EPA regulations would include and not scientists or experts on the topics?

QuoteMcALLEN, Texas (AP) — A Texas woman who was jailed and charged with murder after self-managing an abortion in 2022 can move forward with her lawsuit against the local sheriff and prosecutors over the case that drew national outrage before the charges were quickly dropped, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.
U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton denied a motion by prosecutors and the sheriff to dismiss the lawsuit during a hearing in the border city of McAllen. Lizelle Gonzalez, who spent two nights in jail on the murder charges and is seeking $1 million in damages in the lawsuit, did not attend the hearing.
Those boys want immunity for harassing the woman.

Correct. It's important to repeat the details of Biden's successes as often as Trumpers repeat the lies that Biden has dementia out that Trump was wonderful. Now Biden can just go about being a consequential president and we can instead focus upon the evidence that the republican candidate is old and corrupt and a previous loser who tried to overthrow our government after he lied to us about a pandemic. Trump's ongoing confusion and word salad is more obvious now that the question is on the table about age and competence and he's the only old guy on the stump. Trump won't be able to focus attention on his opponents obvious aging now. Now the contrast couldn't be more obvious. The old crazy guy vs the much younger and fierce woman with tons of experience.
Of course you reject what I share here about Trump. You've rejected most facts and most evidence which shows Trump to be corrupt and unfit to defend and make excuses for him for some time now. You reject the evidence that Trump is a criminal. You reject the evidence that Trump is racist. You reject the evidence that Trump is a pathologic liar. You reject pretty much anything that might disqualify anyone else from the presidency if it's said about Trump. You've established that reality with prompt and persistent efforts in these threads. Your defenses of Trump are dependable.
Yep, Biden had a bad debate and then recovered. Trump had a bad debate and is still telling the same word salad lies and sharing the same crazy delusions to his confused base. Dementia isn't transient, as Trump demonstrates. Trump is out showing the world that he is a much older man campaigning to his base and unable to change his messaging to a more unifying tone because of his mental and cognitive health challenges. The contrast with his vigorous opponent is going to be difficult for him and his fans. He looks old and sick and tired and he sounds crazy. She doesn't.
Maybe he should drop out for the good of the country and the republican party.
