QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.
Maybe ABC was lying when they reported that Trump had a precautionary CT after the FBI said that the very old guy was shot in the ear. It, maybe the sources were saying things that team Trump didn't want said.
Meanwhile, Trump's congressional allies are passing a bill which will deny millions of Americans healthcare.

'Elder Abuse!’ DOJ Official Floats 'Criminal Charges' for Jill Biden
There's a good case to be made.

I don't think that article explains very well that there's a good case for criminal charges of elder abuse.
But I might agree with this, to a point. Her and the people around him should have talked him into not running. At the end of the day it's not like he was a prisoner and made to run. He made those decisions himself, as egotistical as it was.
Quote"It was just, I think, unpatriotic of him to run, and unpatriotic of his staff to insist that he run, to support it,” she said.
Quinn added, "I think everybody was horrified that he was put in a position where he was allowed to run by the staff and by his wife, and people felt sorry for him, but it was still his egotistical decision to stay in office, and look what happened.”
I was in a patient's room and caught a glimpse of the Trump visit with the South African President and heard the word "genocide"and jerked my head to the TV, but was busy and didn't get the context.
I'm disappointed that Trump would perpetuate this conspiracy theory that has no proof. But also given white South Africans refugee status while taking away status from everywhere else clearly is not a good look for the US.
I like this response:
Quote"It is ironic that the executive order makes provision for refugee status in the US for a group in South Africa that remains amongst the most economically privileged, while vulnerable people in the US from other parts of the world are being deported and denied asylum despite real hardship,”

What a crock. I actually work with CPS workers and there no way he would make the criteria for an abuse case. I can agree that the public was abused by the Dems not making better plans for that election but elder abuse is way off base. Jill Biden was not the only person responsible for keeping him on the slate.

Ironically, Trump scolded reporter Peter Alexander for "fake news" while he was actually promoting fake news. He showed a debunked video of a funeral procession in South Africa that showed white crosses along a road. Trump insisted they were each a grave, while they were only there for the funeral.

This was another disgusting display of inviting foreign leaders to appear at the White House before cameras and then scolding them.
In my area, an anti-abortion group with place thousands of crosses on a lot to represent abortions. It is not a mass grave.
He's so stupid. And gullible.

Yes, it's a crock. Projection is one of Trump's favorite tools. The people in Trump's orbit project Trump's weaknesses, character flaws, criminality, and lack of honor or integrity onto others. Use of projection is common in narcissistic personalities. Narcissists mock, project and lie as part of their adls.

Just more evidence of Trump's mental illness and demented cognitive state. His mental illness demands the public humiliation of some people and his dementia makes him gullible and agitated. Apparently this kind of crazy incompetence is now viewed as "strength" and normal diplomacy by American conservatives.
It's stupid and dangerous, for sure.
So, if the proposed budget goes through, whaddya think will happen to our staffing and our patients? The big corporate "health systems" and insurance providers seem pretty quiet about a budget that will seriously affect profits one way or another. I wonder what they're up to. Cui bono?
Maybe I should Google Rick Scott.
I'm not optimistic.

I read about Rick Scott yesterday, so I'll save you the time. The man that stole committed one of the most massive frauds against healthcare, seems to be a bit clueless at worst and not compassionate at best saying: "If you don't want to work, you're the one that decided you don't want health care. That's number one. Number two: Medicaid is supposed to be for children that don't have health care and people with chronic illness"

But I did want to do a deeper dive about hospitals. I work for a not-for-profit that really extends a lot of care to the un-insured and under insured but is also financially sound and growing and making investments including in staffing.
I think to voice their concerns they go into "the sky is falling" mode, but they are some legitimate concerns about how it's going to trickle down.
QuoteHospital leaders have argued that the stakes are high for all Americans, and not just those relying on Medicaid. In addition to more than 8 million Americans losing coverage, hospitals would face greater cost pressures in treating patients with no ability to pay. As a result, some hospitals could be forced to reduce services or shut their doors, and healthcare leaders say that would affect many more Americans who don't rely on Medicaid for health coverage.
Hospitals also faulted the package because it doesn't extend additional funding to support the Affordable Care Act, and millions more could lose coverage.
