The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Search warrants aren't something new.  Do you have some reason to believe it was purposely served on the wrong people?

Is it too much to ask this new police state to just get it right the first time?

Sometimes when you say stupid things, it comes back to haunt you.  We need FEMA, if for nothing more, we need their IT to organize responses logically.  You elected her,Arkansas, and now you are stuck with her.

Of course not.

I was replying to the assertion that "cruelty was the point",

Do you think they got the wrong people just cause they wanted to be cruel to these random folks who just happened to be in the house where the real suspects once lived?

Just as I said a few days ago, Trump haters overshoot when criticizing anything his administration does.   Getting the wrong people deserves criticism.  Saying it was intentional to inflict trauma on innocent people is political hyperbole.   And those who consistently engage in it damage their credibility.

When a state declares a state of emergency and a disaster occurs it seems rare that the Federal Government doesn't come through so this seems off but I don't know the damage that occurred.

The comment section is most interesting.  Love this one:  You won, Sarah, why are you complaining?  Time for the good people of Arkansas to stop asking for handouts and pull themselves up by their bootstraps. No welfare for you moochers.

Yes, cruelty is a feature of both historic fascist regimes and of Trump's previous and current immigration policy.  It's unlikely that the terrorized family was targeted specifically for cruel treatment.  It's more likely that cruel treatment of the encountered humans is standard procedure. They were unintended victims of the sloppy cruelty of Trump's policy.

@Beerman, I was a little puzzled that you did not think the experience of the Oklahoma family was put through was cruel, and then it dawned on me that you must be only speaking to the part about the mistaken identity. I linked the whole story, and was commenting on the whole story, including the part about 20 agents busting through the door in the middle of the night, compelling the mother and her daughters to stand in the rain in their underwear, taking everything of value, and then not leaving a business card or any information on how to retrieve their belongings.

This is traumatizing.  And why is no one sure who entered this woman's home?  Where is her money and all of her stuff?  She needs a lawyer!

I think it was purposely carried out in a manner to disorient and traumatize whomever was at that address. Perhaps this is SOP; I've never had a search warrant served on me.

I agree with you, and this is something I can't understand.  It seems for the most part (Law enforcement), they have the element of surprise on their side as they try to catch criminals off guard by busting in their homes and busting down their doors.  But, the moment they realize it's a mistaken identity, it's the wrong person, wrong place, wrong situation, why don't they abort the mission.  Why don't they apologize.  "I know it was a little rough this morning", is not an apology to a mother with children whom you've just terrorize.  Think of the children....smh

Cruelty IS the point in these types of situations.

Do you think they got the wrong people just cause they wanted to be cruel to these random folks who just happened to be in the house where the real suspects once lived?

I don't think they cared. Judging by the article and the fact that no one has returned her things or apologized to her family shows they don't care.

There are a vast number of things being done right now to inflict trauma or the threat of trauma towards innocent everyday people.

Sometimes in your early presidency it's fair to blame the prior president for problems you inherited.

President Donald Trump blamed former President Joe Biden after new data showed U.S. gross domestic product contracting in the first quarter of 2025.

He suggested he will blame Biden for the second quarter, too.

His claim that the negative GDP and subsequent market declines were a result of Biden's policies is inaccurate.

Companies slowed hiring sharply in April as they braced against potential impacts from President Donald Trump's tariffs against U.S. trading partners, ADP reported Wednesday.

Private sector payrolls rose by just 62,000 for the month, the smallest gain since July 2024, amid heightened uncertainty over the degree of the tariffs and the impact they would have on hiring plans and broader economic conditions.

.My husband's banker chased hom down today to try to sell him some investment. Chase must be demanding that their portfolio managers try an unload their falling garbage onto their clients.  Biden didn't create this mess.  I haven't seen this desperation since 2008 when I lost 42% of my IRA.  I haven't seen the economy to be as shaky as this since Lehman  Brothers folded.

Trump always blames others for his failures. Always.
