QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Really? You think many Americans, especially from Republican districts, care one way or another on this issue. Do you care? Anyone here care?
My rep, Brittany Peterson, is the Democrat who appeared on the Capitol steps with Luna. Not much chatter about it around here.
An example of wokeness bringing down the Democrats.
"Turner told Fox News Digital she was a lifelong Democrat, but the idea of having biological males in women's sports never sat right with her. She said she identifies as a "new Republican conservative."
"I voted red down the ticket this year," Turner said. "It was like waking up to the lies of the mainstream media... Just to watch so many of my friends have this glassy-eyed look while just defending this policy because their brains can not manage the possibility that their party or their position has been wrong on this, and perhaps this isn't a civil rights movement, and they have been misled."

Millions of Republican voters around the country clearly don't care about a host of issues including law and order, corruption, or un-American ideas or actions coming from their political leadership. That reality is well evidenced.

QuoteFinancial markets around the world are reeling Thursday following President Donald Trump's latest and most severe set of tariffs, and the U.S. stock market is taking the worst of it so far.
The S&P 500 was down 3.7% in afternoon trading, more than other major stock markets, and at its bottom in the morning was on track for its worst day since COVID struck in 2020. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 1,228 points, or 2.9%, as of 1:08 p.m. Eastern time, and the Nasdaq composite was 4.8% lower.
We are back to a volatile Trump Economy that leaves the poor to suffer.
QuoteEverything from crude oil to Big Tech stocks to the value of the U.S. dollar against other currencies fell. Even gold, which has hit records recently as investors sought something safer to own, pulled lower. Some of the worst hits walloped smaller U.S. companies, and the Russell 2000 index of smaller stocks dropped 5.5% to pull it more than 20% below its record.
And Trump policies favor big business over small business. Trump voters wanted this.

OMG. When you are pretty sure people are dumb, they go waaaay out of their way to prove it. Thanks for the laugh.
So? It didn't sit well with many Dems either but is this an issue that should determine who is president? I don't think so. It's much more important for Republicans.

I'm not poor but I'm hoping to retire soon, but going to have to put those plans on hold for a bit until the market comes back.
I also went ahead and bought some HOKA shoes on sale. You might know they are one of the most popular shoes these days for nurses. Most shoes in the US are imported and HOKA is made in Vietnam hit with a 46% tariff. I know I'm not the only one buying things ahead of tariffs.
There are times that protecting the American market with tariffs makes sense and we need to have control of the supply chain of certain items that a war or pandemic might disrupt such as computer chips or defense items. We certainly can't complete with the cheap labor around the world. But "Liberation Day" I think is a horrible idea.
Also, just when we thought he wasn't bluffing this time:
QuoteAfter multiple White House aides insisted that the new tariffs were not a negotiation, Trump said he would be open to negotiating with other countries about the duties.
Trump said he would be open to tariff talks with other counties if they offer something phenomenal, Reuters reported him saying on Air Force One.
Top trade aide Peter Navarro told CNBC less than an hour earlier that the sweeping tariffs are "not a negotiation.”

Trump is reassuring you that if you just hang on and get through this acute phase, you'll prosper on the other side.
QuoteThe Army is quietly considering a sweeping reduction of up to 90,000 active-duty troops, a move that underscores mounting fiscal pressures at the Pentagon and a broader shift in military strategy away from Europe and counterterrorism, according to three defense officials familiar with the deliberations.
QuoteThe discussion of cuts comes as the Army is spread especially thin across the world, juggling counterterrorism missions in Africa and the Middle East, which are basically legacy missions from the Global War on Terrorism era, while building its footprint in the Pacific to counter Beijing's expansionist goals.
QuoteMoreover, the Army has effectively been the quarterback in bolstering NATO's front lines amid Russian President Vladimir Putin's ongoing war on Ukraine, a mission that the Trump administration has frequently scoffed at.
On Thursday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, visiting NATO headquarters in Brussels, delivered a blunt message: President Donald Trump expects European nations to increase their military spending significantly.
"He's against a NATO that lacks the capabilities needed to fulfill its obligations under the treaty," Rubio said. "This is a hard truth, but one that must be addressed."
The entire world is less safe with Trump in the US presidency.

Fox always promotes these ersatz Democrats in front of their cameras. This is meaningless air time. It's all a big lie. No one changes party because of something that happens extremely rarely. Fox paid 800 millions dollars for their lying. Why should I believe anything they say? Even the business "reporters" are nuts.

It was proved in court that Fox was intentionally lying to their audience. There was direct evidence that the Fox public faces and political pundits were conspiring to provide a fabricated narrative to the viewing public. Yet, Republicans and Trump supporters keep returning to that trough of lies over and over again just like they believe Trump time and again.
It's a remarkable display of indoctrination.
