Quote

The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

You don't.

Like I said it's the kind and respectful thing to do, and helps people and it's true.  We've already agreed to disagree long ago, so while I respect that you've entered the conversation do we have anything more to say to each other about it?

This actually makes some sense and is a thought on the subject I haven't heard or thought of before.  Even though I am a nurse. I'm even rethinking the post I made above.

I don't know why people have to go with the "if you really were a nurse...." route, but I digress.

Men golfers actually drive the ball longer vs woman golfers of the same level.  So, can't include golf in your list.

I had already pressed the send prompt when I rethought the golf thing but then I remembered that Billy Jean King defeated Bobby Riggs and believe that the day is soon when a woman will defeat a man at golf.  For sure having a long drive is helpful but so is spot-on putting.  I always have to go with the your not a nurse thing because I wish Allnurses limited it's comments to people who are verified nurses.

I don't know, that's why I asked. You seems to not have an answer.

Harsher sentences for people who commit crimes againts LGBTQ ? Some sort of extra  punishment?  Oh well good news, there are hate crime laws.

So what is it?

I have an answer.  I simply expect a master's prepared health professional to engage in and demonstrate some capacity for deductive reasoning and critical thought.

Keep trying to puzzle through what a marginalized and brutalized group in the USA might want in terms of societal change.

If some identifies as a giraffe, do they need help or do they just need the rest of us to make their life as a giraffe easier?

You don't have to do anything.  No one is required to be compassionate, kind, or empathetic toward marginalized people.

Apparently.   You said more about and then so did I.

Bobby Riggs was thirty years past his prime when he lost to Billie Jean King.

Women can beat men at golf and other sports.  But not men vs women at the same level.  For example, the best women on the professional tour would not be at all competitive if they entered mens professional events.

I was answering another person's question that was unanswered for several days and her thinking was we were stumped,  It's fair as part of a discussion board to hear from you.  I answered your question, but confess I didn't read the entire post when you talked about a giraffe,   I still wonder do we actually have anything more to add to the discussion when we've each made our stance clear many times over the years?

I've made it a point to not challenge you or Crusades on this matter but just to answer questions and offer my opinion.

Off topic, I agree that newly transitioning transgender persons should not compete with biological sexes in sports (I've said that before) and the Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs thing was a big money making publicity stunt.

Exactly ... just leave us alone and stop using your personal issues as an excuse to meddle with our lives.

Beerman:  I believe I have already stated that former men should not be competing in women's sports.  I thought I was clear about that.  Well, at least a CIA sisterhood tracked down OBL and that's much more important than golf:)

You were clear.

Of course that means like me you lack kindness, compassion, and empathy towards the trans community.

Allowing a very tiny number of transgendered athletes to participate in school sports under specific requirements related to hormone therapy, etc, is not the same as an adult male competing in a physical contest against an adult female.  Perhaps a certain amount of confusion and conflation is helpful in defending something that's based in discrimination and misinformation.

There aren't former men participating in women's sports.  That's not what this is about.  This is about not allowing a tiny fraction of trans kids, teens, and young adults to participate in school sports even when they do not have a hormonal advantage.  It really all started because of one collegiate swimmer who wasn't physically dominant on the team or in the conference.
