Things that make me grumpy

Published

A line up of things that should have been addressed at home (bumped arm at soccer, of course never iced it. Cut finger last night -not bleeding now) that need to be addressed before I even walk in the door.

Kids that walk in interrupting and yelling loudly about minor complaints while I'm on the phone - i simply assume that they are allowed to do this at home all the time.

Student's coming for minor complaint type things (lip balm, Lumbiderm) 5 minutes before lunch) - really. you couldn't wait?

Parents that never return paperwork, vaccines, whatever then get mad at you when you all them out on it.

Students rushing in 5 minutes past the dismissal bell with sports forms that they had ALL DAY to turn in.

What makes you grumpy???:cautious:

I would have come back with, well that nurse doesn't know much, does she? They vaccinate against Pertussis. That would have been a bus full of unvaccinated students.

Not to mention that obviously a stomachache means she has whooping cough.

Teacher logic. The same way walking slow=illness, sleepy=illness, coughing=contagious with super bug, dog poop=nurse problem, ect

Any possibility they are symptomatic for diabetes? Just an off the wall observation...

No, they are symptomatic for having a substitute.

Guys, I am so thankful for you all. I can vent and you know exactly what I'm talking about. :inlove:

And you all know that even with the ranting, this job is still the BEST.

I saw 4 subs in the front office this morning, I almost turned around an went home!

Someone actually said to me "Oh... I forgot, you like to follow the rules."

Umm...? Yeah, sure do.

I miss my old school sometimes.

Imagine that???? I guess we covet our hard earned nursing licenses much more that they do their teaching certifications.

Ever heard of a teacher losing their certification?

It is almost impossible to get rid of a tenured teacher. They would pretty much have to abuse a student with several witnesses.

TBH, it's hard to get rid of a non-tenured teacher also. My sister was dept head for a while and a first year teacher got caught (via facebook) calling in and then checking in flying to New York or going to a White Sox game. Blew through all her allotted PTO and had to take non paid time off and she was simply put on probation.

This does not make me grumpy. But y'all...

Did you know they make caffeinated water?!?! Say what?!

My AP introduced me today, it does leave mild bitter after taste but apparently its better on ice.

What will they come up with next? (I am fully aware that this product has probably been on the market for years and that I gave just been living under a rock, but I was amazed nonetheless.)

Teacher logic = parallel universe!

I spent my day yesterday being grumpy. Got registration forms on 2 new students, no health issues listed at all. Signed off and filed their forms. Come to find out later in the day one is completely deaf and the other is in a wheelchair with a CP dx. Registrar said that if the parent didn't write the information on the form, she can't force them to do it. When I asked if the students were there during registration she said yes. Well then, if you saw them, why wouldn't you let us know? Um, not my job to let you know. Grrrrrrr, I was ready to walk out. This is a regular occurrence with her.

Yes, yes, yes!! All of these! Today I am dealing with all the "my mom told me to call if I wasn't feeling good"

Recently I sent a kid back to class who tried that line on me. Frequent flyer. No fever, seemed fine. She texted her mom from class and went home anyway. Defeats the whole purpose of my job. :sarcastic:

I also have lots of kiddos who text their parents about how terribly sick they are, never visit the heath office, and the parent calls me to find out what's going on. Well HTH would I know?
