Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.
Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle
When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)
I start nursing school in the fall and I think i might have to just keep my mouth shut and make friends elsewhere!!! haha you guys scare me! I'm sure i'll be back this fall joining you all in these rants though :)
I can tell you that not everyone is like that. Most of the people in my class are great people; it's just those few that can drive you crazy at times. Congrats and good luck in the fall! :heartbeat
Really?? Did we actually just hear you say (and in front of an instructor, no less!) that you don't care about peoples' problems, and don't like to listen to "whining and complaining"? That you didn't do good on the test that we just took over communication, caring, spirituality/culture, and grief because you don't want to listen to people talk about their issues or culture? I can't believe you also had the stones to tell the instructor that you can do the "Broadway act" if you HAVE to, but that you can't be genuine about caring about patients! Why don't you go into lab work, if it's that hard for you?? It's probably a good thing that you said it to the instructor that you did because I have the feeling that the other one would have reamed you.
To most of the other nursing students I have met this semester: you're a great bunch of people, and I can't wait until summer is over so that we can be around each other again:) You rock!
have you always been so frightened by anything that is new to you? what did you think nursing school was going to be like? and have you always been so nasty to people? if this is the level of interpersonal communications skills that you have how do you expect to function as a nurse in a hospital when you graduate?
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. ~Author Unknown...During my second year of nursing school our professor gave us a quiz. I breezed through the questions until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was a joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Before the class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our grade. "Absolutely," the professor said. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say hello." I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy. ~Joann C. Jones

yeah and more often than not, the personality annoyances are due to operating under obscenely high amounts of stress and low amounts of sleep. I swear nursing school resurrects benign mental disorders that never should show their ugly faces
Please stop complaining about how life is so hard with children and telling me I know nothing because I don't have children. You judged me because I choose to start my career earlier in life and you choose to start yours later. How is that bad? I never will understand why you choose to use your children as an excuse and used the excuse of me not having children for not knowing anything about life. It will always be hard for me to wrap my head around. We all have problems with or without children.
