Things you would love to say to your fellow nursing students!

Published

Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.

Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle

When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)

"Please, please, please, turn your cell phone's 'vibrating' ringtone off when we are taking a test. All it's doing is distracting me and causing me to focus on your gum smacking. And YES, even tho the instructor doesn't cover it in class, it is important to read the chapter!!! For the millionth time."

You constantly bragged that you had never worked a day in your life. You have a daughter and you go to school entirely on taxpayer money. I knew you wouldn't last the day you were disgusted that nurses had to clean up after patients and you learned that it wasn't just CNA work. Why would you waste the money and our time? Now you are premed? Are you kidding me?

I'm sad we arent in the same classes this coming semester. I will miss studying at the coffee shop and slowly getting loopy until the slightest thing cause a giggle fit. (Studying for hours and hours on end makes me loopy lol).

you didn't fail the exam because someone's cell rang at the beginning of it and made you forget what to right on the paper. You failed because you didn't study so just admit that and quit the bloody wining and threatening to go to the head to report it.

if you already know all that then why the hell are you here? just shut up already.

amen!!!!

"How do you remember every single question on the exam? And why do you have to give me a 5 minute speech about why you put a specific answer for every question? A 5 minute explanation including your rationale for doing so. I don't care, I'd rather discuss that episode of Grey's! :P"

OMG I am amazed at some of the people who remember literally every question and what they put for an answer, if only they put that much effort into preparing for the exam. Also, if you're going to ask me what the answer was to #2 and then debate with me over why your answer was right, why did you ask me what the answer was?!?!?! You obviously know or at least think strongly you do!

A certain person in my AP II class has to comment on every darn power point slide the Professor presents. Every slide I am thinking " please dont say anything", but before Professor proceeds to next slide, said person opens mouth. I do not know why because everything said person says is ridiculous. Driving me up the wall!!! Professor tries to be polite, but also tries to convey in a professional manner that we need to get on with discussion! I am sending thoughts that said person will be happy just to sit quietly in lecture and let us all get on to the next slide!!:smackingf:selfbonk::scrm::spbox: The other day said person asked professor if RH blood was monkey blood!!!:lghmky:

OMG there is one like that in my AP1 class, is botox good for you, when talking about the integumentary system, will a bullet lodged in your lung set off a metal detector while talking about repiratory system, tell me where this patient will encounter a metal detector with a BULLET lodged in his lung! Seriously?? Read the text and pay attention and you'd be able to ask some inteligent questions pertaining to the actual material!

Why is it that at exam time the same few people ask what we should be studying for the exam? EVERYTHING! That's why we were taught it!

Would you please SHUT UP about how you are sooooo upset because you *only* got a 90 on the test when you usually get a 95? Especially when there are students who are STRUGGLING to just pass the class. (doesnt apply to me personally, but there is a student who was one point away from passing and it made her feel really bad that folks were upset about getting such a high score, I can only imagined how that made her feel)

Also, please stop talking during lecture about your wedding plans. (Good for you that he FINALLY proposed, but can you please talk about that on your own time?)

And while you are at it, no, not everything they teach us in class can be applied to a clinical situation verbatiam. So, please don't tell me that "they told us in class not to say such and such to a patient" when you were NOT involved in the patient's care, nor was in the situation where I had to tell a patient's family member her mother is dying. (Response I got from a couple of students during post conference while discussing death and dying issues based on my patient and the family dynamics)

Just because you can "pass a test" with flying colors don't mean you will be a good nurse. Just like a person who struggles with test taking skills don't mean they are gonna be a bad nurse. There is such a thing as book smart and plain ole common sense.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!

Wanting to be a nurse just for the money will only end up giving you a nasty shock.

Foleys and NG tubes CANNOT be used interchangably.

Just because you'll have RN after your name doesn't mean you won't have to wipe butts.

Mooching is bad!

No, you don't use a coffee filter when drawing meds from a vial.

You are so funny and I would have like to say that a few times to some of my classmates...also I would like to add that I wanted to say....

"because I know you, and I went to school with you I do not want you to take care of me..." this was truly funny.

I will be the first student to be disappointed that in only got a 90 when a 94 is needed for an "a"! Firstly, I am highly competitive, but only with myself. I never boast to classmates, until someone asks. I work for these grades and I'm d@mn proud! Secondly, i need that "a" to maintain a high gpa to be considered for scholarships and furthering my degree. Lastly, it's too bad that someone isn't passing the class, but not to sound callous, there's a reason why that student is struggling. Grades are earned.

P.S. Oh god, every time I get the highest grade, I am smiling the smuggest little smile inside!! Keep in mind, I'm also always willing to help others study and quiz them. I know, I know- i'm oh so mature! =D

I am too dumb and lazy to fix different-sized fonts when posting from my phone, though!!!

Do not ask me, "How do I take a Blood Pressure."

Please stop asking a thousand questions in lecture. It's especially annoying when your "question" isn't really a question. You just say exactly what the instructor just said, but just in question form. It's like you're on repeat.

For example: Instructor: Nitroglycerin is given sublingually. Student: Okay, so nitroglycerin is given sublingually?

When we get our tests back, please stop arguing about the right and wrong answer with the instructors. Yes, you put B and the answer was infact C. Please stop trying to explain to us why you put B and how you think C shouldn't be the answer. It's probably not the best idea to argue with the instructors. Just accept that you got the question wrong, and move on.

It's not very wise to talk about how much you hate said instructor and bad mouth her in front of her own office. Do you think she can't hear you?

Please stop asking me what I put as my answer on exams. I honestly can't remember what I put for number 12. I don't even remember the question on number 12, much less the choices. I just want to relax after taking an exam, not go over every question and answer and compare what I put for number 12 to what you put.

Please stop acting like you know absolutely everything! If you already know everything about nursing, then why are you here?

Is everything a competition with you? Stop putting other people down when they didn't do as well as you on an exam. Stop asking what grade everyone else got just so you can let everyone know that you got a 98!

To the majority of the class: Are we in high school again? What is with all the cliques? It's really rude to exclude people from conversations and to roll your eyes and give them a snotty look just because they're not in your "group".
