  1. Thank you so, much for your input and your suggestions. I will definitely research it before I accept the position, I was not sure but with some research to back it up I will feel much better knowing I made the right decision. Thanks, and happy holidays.
  2. Hi, everyone! I recently got offered an RN position on an assisted living facility in houston, TX. I currently work on a good hospital, and I work nights. The job sounds simple enough, this is what I got from the interview.... small living facility only 16 Residents at one time Time is flexible...meaning I am only hired to be on the facility once a week or every two weeks (up to me) money $50.00 an hour (2-4hrs) worth it? I am not sure. Responsabilities according to owner? Reconsile meds once a week or two, do inservices (at least once a month, or not? she left it up to me) and leave meds prepared for a week at a time. I am not sure about this, I don't have any idea, what my accountability is in this job....to be honest I am a little worried I told her I would like to think about it. Truthfully I am researching the RN's role in this type of setting. I don't want to expose my license, I have worked way too hard for it. I love being a nurse. I guess my question is, what exactly am I responsible for, where can I find out more about the RN's role in an assisted living facility? something seems wrong with this picture, but I am not sure what it is. Thanks for your input and feedback.
  3. Dear busy5kids, I know this is probably the hardest test you will ever encounter...but remember to be humble. I know it must have been difficult to see your classmate with that badge you want so much, but if you were truly friends that won't matter. Dont focuse on the negative and look forwards of what you have given the opportunity to do. I know it must be hard but you will perservere! Take advantage of your choices and kick out bad feelings, otherwise you will never move on. Positive thoughts, althought hard at this point, attrack positive things. Keep working hard, your time will come. E
  4. I just wanted to thank everyone that helped me out or just listened when I needed to be heard. I took my Hesi today and I PASSEDD!!!!!!!!!!!! I know it is hard and you feel angry maybe disappointed but just believe that there is a greater power out there and if you are meant to do this, then you will. There is nothing that I can write that will make you feel better, just believe, and work hard I recommend saunders like many people have in the past. Take care, E
  5. You are so funny and I would have like to say that a few times to some of my classmates...also I would like to add that I wanted to say.... "because I know you, and I went to school with you I do not want you to take care of me..." this was truly funny.
  6. I am so glad you are so ambitious...YOu can achieve everything!! I am not sure if you have notices but there are some requirements you have to meet before applying into a nursing program so, I would check out that first and start from there if you wanna get into it. See the core requirements for each degree and choose the ones that will be compatible with both. If you know what university you want to go to look at their website for core requirement and the classes that are tranferable to their facility with out any trouble....this is very important since you don't want to loose any money and credits if you dont do this first. I don't think anyone will look down on AS from a community college, the way I look at it, there is no difference in pay as an RN wether you have a BSN or ADN you both look at the same things...the only difference is how many student loans you have behind your name and believe me you will saving thousands of dollars by going to a community college unless you have a massive college account or a rich family. It's all about opportunity!!! go out there and make a choice...sorry if I jumped around too much I think it's time for me to go to bed. Have a good night.
  7. I second that motion you allready have 60 credits and if you apply for a university for a BSN I don't think you would qualify for financial aid. So, try other colleges and see what happens if you have a son to take care, I will have you on my prayers.
  8. Congradulations....the best is yet to come, ALWAYS treasure the way you feel right now and the first days, try to keep this fond memories because eventhough it's exiting, there were times I just to ask myself why I was doing it...and you know what it help me to remember how it all started and how I felt, that motivated me day in and day out. It's not going to be a walk in the park...but keep telling yourself that it will be worth it at the end.
  9. I came from the same boat, and you don't realize how things are different now that you are in school and you look at things in a whole new light. I used to think as a benefit from my hospital experience but now that I am so close to the end and while I was going through the transformation...I realize that it kind of hurt me in the long run. To be a RN or real nursing as I like to put it you got to do the book time...Saunders is a great resource and the more questions I do the better I have gotten to it. Another tip, is to take yourself out of the scenario and you what have seen....you have probably heard this a lot, don't understimate the power of knowledge...and critical thinking...they will always be back and might as well master it now. Good luck!
  10. it's absolutely basic and they are instructions with the math question...review your basic math for nursing...good luck tomorrow!!
  11. Case studies develop your critical thinking but they do take time, what type of case studies are you doing? I do the software for nurses and even though I don't like them bc they are time consuming they do give a lot of info so, maybe try to do a different types to get your mind in the right pathway. Good luck!
  12. Congradulations!!!!!!!!! That is going to be me next week!!!!
  13. susancollins, If you could help me out in version 4 with topics or hints that will be great to have a general idea I know we can't post emails or anything but add me to your friends and maybe we can do it that way. I take my next exam next week so anything will be helpful, I have worked hard but I could use a little more I don't want to leave anything behind. Thanks before hand, Luisa ps. if I find any info on 5 I will definitely let you know my search still continues.
  14. Send me a pm and I can tell you what I have been doing ^_^ Good luck
