I couldnt call the school to ask because they close on friday-sunday, but do you think my math SAT score will stop me from going to the class i want? the school im going to is State of florida college it use to be called Manatee Community college. Thanks for the help p.s God bless all the nurses out their, I think what you guys are doing is amazing!
  2. im sorry to hear about you not being able to finish school. and thank you for sharing your personal experience
  3. Hi, im about to start my first semester of college and i will be taking 16 credits and wanted to start a lpn program that last about 1500 hours(evening classes 5-11 Monday-Thurs). The college classes are General Academic Requirements to get into RN school, i will be moving out of my house so i need to become a lpn in about the same time im done with my first year of college, thats why im thinking about taking this drastic step. So my question is would i be able to juggle a full time college courses in the morning to late afternoon and go to lpn school at night and do this for 200+ days and maintain a 3.5 on my college courses? p.s i will not be working and the schools are fairly close to my house and i only need 6-7 hours of sleep a night to feel energized.
  4. Hie, thank you for opening this thread and taking the time to help me out on my career path in becoming a nurse. I just have a few question that i will ist below but before that i will tell you a little bit about myself and my situation. Im 18 and ill be starting Community college this fall(well now its a four year college) and i wanted to get a bachelor degree in chemistry or possible biochemistry. But i also want to do their BSN nursing program, i think it would be a great opportunity for me. So i wanted to no would it be possible for me to get my A.A degree and still finish my pre req for nursing on time? and Is it required that i get a A.S degree and if i do will they look down on it when i tranfer to a state university when i want to complete the rest of my chemistry or biochemistry courses? Again thank you
  5. Hey, I plan on going to school for nursing and should be an RN i about 3 years and after that i would like to get my Bachelors in nursing. And down that road i plan on working for about 2-3 years as a RN, and then go to school to become an NP. I would be doing this full time hopefully at a local hospital, for no longer then 10-15 years. By then i should have a pretty good life and a good understanding of nursing and the human body. So after all that time spent i want to be an educator, and since a good chunk of my my life has been dedicated to nursing. It makes since on becoming a college nursing professor. Here are my questions How does a NP become a professor? Can i become a CNA, LPN, RN or Np professor or is their additional schooling for each one? How much does the Avg. Professor work a week? How much does the Avg. Professor Make an hour/month or even annually? What do colleges look at when hiring a professor?experience or education? And lastly How were your relationships with your nursing teachers? Thank you very much for taking the time and reading and or answering these questions.
  6. I wanted to know if it would be possible for me to work part time as a pharm tech(30-36hrs) and still maintain a 3.5 in nursing school (as well as my pre reqs)? Is the daily duty of a pharmacy tech to hard for me to manage both? Could i also find time to study in the department?or is it always busy? all help is welcomed on the subject. Thank you for your time
  7. I didnt even realize red cross did that, is their a program in Sarasota or orlando florida? I went to their main website and it only provided information about courses taking place in Maryland.
  8. Thank you very much for responding, and as a matter of fact i will make a note of telling them about eventually settling into a CNA position and hopefully that will lead to me asking them if they would help me train for such said position. Thanks again, this website is helping me out already.
  9. Hey everyone, let me start off by saying i am absolutely delighted that i found this website out. It has given me a lot of answers to my oh so many questions. Before getting into details on why i posted this new thread i would like to tell you all a little about myself. I am 18 years old and getting ready to graduate high school this Friday with a 3.2 GPA( i slacked off most of my high school career cause i didn't know what i wanted to do in life). I will be attending Community college this upcoming fall and which i will be receiving my a.a degree and also do all my pre-req for the RN program they currently have. Okay enough about me lets get down to the nitty gritty. I will be voulenteering (have my interview june 1'st) at my local hospital and i will bring up the fact that i would one day like to work as a nurse and not only am i using this opportunity to help others im also using it to help myself. First question first, Would it be to ambigious for me to ask about becoming part of the staff (cause i really need a job and the experience)? I also wanted to know about what it takes to become a CNA in the state of Florida, Would it be reasonable to apply at nursing homes without a license? is their even a point to that? I appreaciate all the input everyone is able to offer me and will try to do my best to take them all into consideration. Thank you for reading, Goodnight and God Bless
