  1. I took my test on thursday the 4th, convinced i failed... did the pearson view trick and received the "good" pop up... it soothed my nerves and some of my anxiety ... however the next 48 hours were the longest of my life... paid the fee for the quick results 48 hours later and YEAH!!!! it says that i passed!!! the trick works...
  2. our class was informed a fewdays prior to our finals that we would be taking an exit HESI, i did well ...a 950, i think it was because i did not stress over it just answered the questions and did not read into the questions .... we were all in a hurry to be done... had our med surg final prior to doing the HESI,
  3. i started school with the thought of great fiends and companionship everyone working together ... alas I too was severely disappointed. for the most part the majority of my classmates are catty, manipulative, and vitriolic by nature... i just want to get through the next 9 weeks and move on with my life and be the best nurse i can be..:heartbeat
  4. i will be graduating from this program soon.... as in life.... there is some good and some bad. u will get out of the program what u put in to it. it is a distance learning class. video conference for a few hours once a week, u must be highly motivated, organized and a great self motovator. it is highly competitive, get all ur pre req's done. go online to the uaa nusing website it will give u all the info u need. the grading scale has changed from an earlier post........ 94 -100- A, 84-93.9-B. 75-83.9 C. there r some awesome 1st year instructors!!! good luck
  5. i live in fairbanks and agree with the previous posting regarding ICU or NICU jobs, they r not available, with the economy as poor as it is many people r turning their eyes northward believing there is easy money to be had. my hubby and i have lived here for 5 years now, it costs at least 3X as much to live here than it costs to live in the lower 48. fuel costs are high, food..$3.00 for a red bell pepper, .79-1.49 for a single ear of corn, and u must plug ur car in every night for months. if u have more than 1 cAR... gas is over 3 dollars a gallon still, it adds up quickly, so in addition to heating, usually with oil, (power costs which r tied into the price of oil as well,) my point ..research it well, come here in jan or feb 4 vacation. if there were huge amounts of money to be made here would not everyone be clamoring to move here?
  6. our bookstore went to ordering all books online... a challenge up here in the interior.... it takes forever to get the books.. still waiting on books i ordered 16 days ago..
  7. i live in a small town, 1 hospital and during my short experience as a student there i have encountered quite a few people whilst out shopping or just around town who have recognized me. i never say anything unless they do, as i mentioned a small town and well everyone knows everyone else. i am who i am my personal life is mine and my professional life just another aspect of who i am. i strive to treat others with respect always... and have been known to skip down an asile or 2, or sing a song whilst i am out and about enjoying my life.:yeah:
  8. it saddens me as well to read some of these negative posts...A vs C hmmmmm. a lot of assumptions being tossed around. I have experienced the disappointment of a C and the elation of receiving an A. i think we should all be more supportive a less judgmental... kudos to all of us who are trying their best and best of luck next semester:redbeathe
  9. the most difficult part of nursing school never having enough time in my day clinical instructors that are difficult at best nursing school politics care plans the best part of nursing school doing what i love knowing what an awesome nurse i will be when i graduate:yeah:
  10. have you always been so frightened by anything that is new to you? what did you think nursing school was going to be like? and have you always been so nasty to people? if this is the level of interpersonal communications skills that you have how do you expect to function as a nurse in a hospital when you graduate? It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. ~Author Unknown...During my second year of nursing school our professor gave us a quiz. I breezed through the questions until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was a joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Before the class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our grade. "Absolutely," the professor said. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say hello." I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy. ~Joann C. Jones :loveya:
  11. i recently completed my 3rd semester in nursing, the OB/Peds semester. i had 4 rotations in NICU, and was blessed to have some great nurses who were willing to share their experiences and knowledge with me. they were patient and patiently explained procedures, look up labs, imparted thier wisdom, all the while treating me with respect. i am grateful to the wonderful caring NICU nurses that were so kind to me and contributed immensly to my education.:yeah::redbeathe
  12. our class started out with 16, we lost 2 after the first semester ( which were replaced by bridge students) then two more during the second. so we are at 14 now.
