Things you would love to say to your fellow nursing students!

Published

Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.

Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle

When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)

I would say to those student who want to use others to pass the class, "Study!". You cannot continue to be academic moochers, I am tired of you asking me to help you with your projects. Do your work!

1. Stop crying because you can barley pass an exam and start studying.

2. No, C doesn't equal RN. C equals a poor nursing student who will probably be stopped by the HESI E2 or NCLEX.

3. Stop hating because I have a 4.0.

4. Nobody cares that you are a PCA or how they do something at "your" hospital.

5. Stop telling everyone how you didn't even study so you don't care that you got a C on the exam. We can see right through it, you did study. Your just stupid!

I posted on this thread a year ago, right after my first year. Your gripes sounded a lot like mine. Keep up the good work.

(I eventually lost my 4.0 in my second year, but it still didn't stop me from trying as hard as I could.)

I was simply commenting that a 4.0 nurse doesn't equal a good nurse and a c nurse doesn't always = a stupid nurse of a bad nurse.

How can they pass NCLEX without some knowledge?? If someone can pass nursing school and the state board without EVER cracking open the book, or studying, or even buying the book then that must be a pretty smart person. To grasp ALL OF THAT, without ever trying. Grasping it enough to pass. WOW.

You would never know what your Nurse receives since they aren't asked what your GPA is when applying for a job. They don't care, they care that you passed your boards.

But for the record I would be perfectly fine with a nurse that got C's. My old school, the NS consisted of people that got NO LESS then a 3.9 GPA and let me tell you, you could ALWAYS spot the nursing students around campus. Not by them wearing scrubs or holding medical equipment but by their attitude! Not everyone was like that, but a good majority of them were. I will take the C nurse, that is friendly, open to learning, caring and nurturing than the A nurse that completely ignores me as the pt. and just getting her tasks done, doesn't take the time to talk to me, and knows it all any day.

Again now all C students are like this and not all A students are like this. I am just making a general statement on things I have seen.

I guess it's good I am a B student. ;)

Saying someone got a C because they are just stupid is a huge insult to people here that have gotten C's but are wonderful nurses.

Sure it's a vent thread, but if your vent is stereotyping a large group of people expect people to respond. You made some pretty general statements even if you were talking about a specific group of girls and it's no surprise it ruffled some feathers.

I am passing my 3 credit nutrition class with a 4.0 without ever studying, I use the answer Key for the HW, I have never even opened the book except if our assignment was in the book and I had to go look up the question. Never spent any of my free time on any of it. I have gotten above 100% on my exams because she always gives EC on the exam and full points on all my assignments. Meanwhile there are students always struggling that are studying and trying. It's just a class I was already well informed on by self teaching years ago and so it's been easy for me. Everyone learns different and some people like to just "talk" a lot, maybe they are embarrased they study a lot and only get a C so they try to play it off. Unless you live with them and are with them all the time you really don't know what the truth is.

1. You studied 30 hours for this test and only scored an 80? Jeez...

2. Shut the heck up. You know why you only have a 3.0? Its because you do nothing but study and all you do is think about this stuff. Go get laid, have a beer, and relax. It will help you so much more than making this your existence.

3. Stop acting like Mother Theresa. That patient probably did not want you in his room for an hour... It annoys him and the nurses, they are just to nice to tell you.

4. You totally stress out about the most nit picky details in this material. How on earth are you going to be able to respond to the stress during a code?

5. Go in there and talk to your patient like a normal human being. You do not have to review assessment questions and proper nursing responses for 2 hours before clinical... In reality, that is all complete BS anyways.

You must have misunderstood me completely!!!

Those are things I want to say to other students in my class. I am venting too, lol :nuke:

LOL!!! misunderstandings...tsk tsk. Its good that you have understood each other completely. hehehe. :yeah:

To a particular student in my class:

We're going into the final, and you need an 80 on the final to pass the class. I'm helping because I'm doing well, it's good karma, and I thought maybe you could pull it off. NOW you tell me you haven't read any of the chapters? None of them? 2 days before the final? You've glanced through them? On all these chapters that you failed? Why yes, yes I am imagining how well you'd be doing if you had actually studied for the exams (none of which you managed to pass doing it your way). I'm also imagining how poorly you're going to do on this final that historically has an average score of 65. No, I'm not wasting MY time, because helping you helps me focus, but I sincerely think you may be wasting your own, as well as your money. You need more help than I can offer. Sure maybe God has a plan for you. And maybe you're blowing it.

wow!!

i'm getting flamed :angryfirefor what i'd like to say to *some* nursing student. everyone on the defensive should know that i'm referring to a group of students who always brag about how they never study, don't buy the required nursing textbooks, and are happy with a mere c average. these same students bash any a student and come up with excuses as to why the a student has more time to study then they do.

yes, a 4.0 gpa doesn't guarantee a good nurse. there are a lot of other important skills that you are graded on in nursing school. i am confidante that i am a good nursing student both in the classroom and in the clinical setting. i have received nothing but positive reviews from all of my clinical instructors; i have been given multiple patients when all other students are only assigned one patient. i have always given the best possible care to all my patients and have always felt good when clinical was over that i did everything good and there was nothing more i could have done or should have done.

would you want to have a c average nurse take care of you knowing that they didn't study, read from a nursing textbook, or even buy the book? i know i wouldn't.

i don't care if my nurse was a " c" nurse or an "a" nurse... as long as she is competent and shows some compassion then i am ok with that. i know a students who never read or study, they just are good test takers and can go to class and pass an exam.

oh by the way when you go on a job interview i doubt if they will ask you " by the way were you a student who made c's or a's on your exams" ?

c students also pass nclex exams as well ! fyi- i'm a proud " b" student.

You dress like a hooker. I do not understand who taught you that gold stilettos were an OK thing to wear to class.

You NEED to wear clothes that fit you..coming to class with your gut and love handles hanging out is NASTY.

Hey you smokers...YOU STINK!! I KNOW you are addicted and it keeps you awake but you smell AWFUL and I hate it! I think I will start wearing EXTRA perfume and hopefully it will distract me from your nasty cloud.

Just because there is a guy in our class that does not mean he is interested in YOU. I know some of you random whores do not feel complete unless a guy is paying attention to you but seriously stop it.

You over there the couple that is married but not to each other...you have SPOUSES at home...cheating with your lab partner is tacky and sad. Can't wait till you all meet at graduation....should be a Jerry Springer episode.

Chick with the super big bag...you never even take your books out. NEVER..I don't know why you hit us all with that damn bag every day when you NEVER even open it up.

I was dying laughing when I heard these - and I'm at work :yeah:

I luv vent threads! This one has gotten some people kind of huffy though. This is a thread where we can write what we would like to say to our fellow nursing students, not what we would actually say to each other. Quit taking these things so personal! Have some fun with it. Nobody really gives a rats butt if you study like crazy and do well or if your getting a 4.0 without even trying. These are just some things our fellow students get irritated with. Some of the same students will be the ones that have your back out there in the world and still we'll be irritated by them and they by us.

i passed!!! i got a b!!! you could have too if you'd have bothered to come to class!!!

there are too many things i would love to say to some of these chumps, but then again, i'm a catty broad with no patience (plus, i'm too lazy to type out my countless diatribes). :D

p.s. make sure when you are calling someone "stupid" you use proper punctuation. one little apostrophe actually makes a big difference.

p.p.s. a lack of capitalization is due to laziness and indifference, not ignorance. :D

8 more months...and then i'll be responding to the thread "things you would love to say to your fellow coworkers". *sigh*
